Okay, I'll commit to $50 for a new server; who's with me?

If this was a plot, then by God it worked. My frustration level with the error reports has just reached the critical mass necessary to overwhelm my cheapness. So, if the administrators decide they need a new server, I'll commit to up my contribution to DU by 50 bucks to help defray the cost. Anyone else with me?

3. In the interests of full disclosure, I feel obligated to post.

We always appreciate donations, and if people wish to donate I think that's great.

But at this point we still believe that this is a software problem. If it is a software problem, then upgrading the hardware won't help. So we aren't going to upgrade the server just yet.

We think we have isolated the problem, but it is difficult to find time to actually implement the fixes. Elad, our programmer, actually has a day job. We don't have a team of highly paid professional programmers on the DU payroll. Unfortunately, the biggest hurdle to getting this problem fixed is time, not money.

Unless, of course, we were to bring in enough money to hire Elad full time. Which I suppose is another reason to donate money.

But I just want to be clear that currently we are not planning to purchase new hardware.

Thanks for thinking of us. And thanks, everybody, for being so patient and understanding. I am as frustrated as you are.

4. Dedicated server

Hey, I'll host you guys for $50 / mo.

I have a dedicated server that is going largely unused.

I'd have to look at what kind of bandwidth you guys use, etc. Right now I host about 20 domains, and am only using .04% of my allotted bandwidth, and 5% of our hard drive capacity. I can offer you the lions share of our resources.

You would also have an experienced PHP & MySQL programmer at your disposal. I'm 99% sure your problem is your web host provider just has the max_connections on their mysql server set too low. I can optimize our mysql server to suit your needs.

I'm serious. I'd love to host something worthwhile like this.
