I fell on a sheet of ice and hit my head really hard this morning |
|
and my dog just kept walking. I didn't black out, and the weird thing is it doesn't hurt. I hit the back of my head flat on the ice (I had the hood of my jacket up but it didn't provide much of a cushion).
I just feel a little spacey. :headbang:

Sorry to hear about that...... I'm not sure what medical precautions to take but I think you need to be wary of a concussion.......
Maybe some other DUers have advice....

13. Yeah, it has happened to me in the past. I was too stubborn to go to |
|
the hospital. Don't know what impact it had, because I'm a little "spacey" in general, but I would recommend seeing the doctor, based on all of the unsolicited advice I've received.

4. I took a bad fall on some rocks a few years ago... |
|

...busted my melon open and had to close it up with four stitches. You're sort of lucky you at least fell on something flat and even.
I didn't lose consciousness and didn't feel any nausea, so they didn't X-Ray me for concussion. I would guess a doctor would take the same course with you.
If you start feeling nauseous, see a doctor, though.

5. Hmmm, ya know ya never feel the one that kills ya... |
|
Hope you feel better. and read up on symptoms of concussion...
The only ice left over here in 'tosa is run-off from the larger snow piles in parking lots and such. My morning walk goes along a school playground and the sidewalk has little frozen rivulets everywhere.

7. Yes, please get yourself checked out! |

You could have a concussion, and might not really feel it for a bit.

and I don't have a regular doctor. I'll have to read the stuff now to see what I should do.
When I was in college the boys in my coed dorm heard it was my birthday so they came marching in my room to pick me up and they were going to throw me in the showers. Well I struggled and they dropped me on my head. So I left my 19th birthday party on a stretcher. No skull fracture, I have the hardest head in the world. I felt ok until a couple of days later when I got nauseous.
Edit: I can't believe my dog kept walking- he went about 50 feet, then saw that I was laying down, so he laid down and started rolling in the snow! We were out in the woods on Governors Island, nobody around.

11. You know it crossed my mind- what if I hit my head and got amnesia |
|
and had to figure everything out. Do you think being a liberal is entrenched in the brain so deep that a good whack can't knock it out?

12. Did you ever see "Regarding Henry"? |
|
Harrison Ford's character got a brain injury, and when he emerged from his coma he had changed from a freeperish lawyer to a good guy who cared. So I think only Republican bad sense can be knocked out of you. :)

An old lady who works as a volunteer at my agency fell in her kitchen and badly cracked the back of her head. She ended up with a sub-dural hematoma which needed surgery to relieve the pressure.
I'M NOT KIDDING HERE- GO GET CHECKED
