I thought, as everyone does, that there was too much Jar Jar in the first one but otherwise it was good. And the second one I really didn't have a problem with at all, maybe the overdone love scenes marred it a bit.

Because I didn't watch them until last week. I avoided them for years because of how bad I heard they were and it turned out that they were pretty cool. So I had expectations of complete crap whereas most people who were hungry for the prequels to begin must have had expectations of something beyond spectacular. ...if he screws it up, it really proves he's lost any ability he might have had.

He was never very much of a good director of actors, but he used to have the Vision Thing. Now, aside from trite, action-movie spectacle...he hasn't shown much of that recently.
