Kerry needs a hair cut if he is going to win. |
|
I’m still in the “Anybody but Bush” camp so please take this as constructive criticism intended to help the Kerry campaign.
First, I have a theory that people want to elect the most macho candidate. Maybe it’s instinctive, who knows, but most people aren’t all that in touch with issues and are driven by emotion at some level. Evidence Arnold and Jessie even Clinton falls into that mold. Al Gore was way manlier then Chimp and he won. The reason Rush maligned Kerry as “French looking” touches on this concern.
With that in mind, Kerry just has to get a regular hair cut. What I am talking about is a Republican business man look, the kind of thing one would get at a barber shop. The transition should be gradual, but he needs to macho up his look.
Before anyone flames me as being sexist, I don’t agree that this trend is a good thing. It is just an observation from past elections as well as from conversations with disinterested voters.

1. No. The Democrats should be the party of independent hair styles. |
|
This is an issue worth fighting & dying for. If not for this, then for what? If not now, then when?

Nixon's 5 o'clock shadow probably cost him the election. (Not that he lost). As Ike told hime when he was thinking, like Gore, of contesting the election results: "Sonny, relax, they stole it fair and square"

14. Some drug addicted ass hole. |

I only brought it up because it emphasized that vulnerability in Kerry, not for the truth of the statement. Hell I wouldn’t know a Frenchman from an Englishman. I’m assuming Rush made the attack because he thinks the French are sissies, but then Rush could have said it because he was cranky and needed a fix.

7. Hey, I may be nuts but I think I’m onto something here. |
|
Not only about Kerry (I know I’m right about that) but about macho winners.
Think about Dukakis and Bush I. There aren't too many men less macho than the first Bush but we found him. Now there were lots of problems in that campaign, and I would have suggested shoulder pads for Dukakis, but the more macho guy won.

Something tells me if those two got into a fist fight, Dukakis would clean up nicely in seconds. Dukakis's problem was being too macho, he was somewhat cold and icy to win votes.
You're the first person I know to call Bush Sr. macho, this is a new one on me!!

15. Bush I wan't macho, I wouldn't call him that |
|
My point was that he scored a 2 on the macho scale to Dukakis's one.

I wouldn't want their vote. I don't trust people who make judgments based on someone's hair, if I was running and people wouldn't vote for me because of my hair I would be glad because I wouldn't want to gain votes because of my hair.

The people I want voting for me are the ones making a smart and well informed decision. Not because of my hair style, I don't trust people who voted based on hair style's judgment.

For some reason "Manly", or one-of-the-guys (even Bubba Clinton), gets votes. I bet Bush's carrier landing played way way better than we thnk in Springer-land. Expect more. It's not about the truth, it's about perception. And if the guy at the top talks like a guy you'd go huntin' with . . . . Reagan had that aw-shucks-I'm-dumb-JUST-LIKE YOU thing going. So does Bush. Clinton, while not dumb sure wasn't an aristo. Hell, he toked, blew sax, had a BJ in the Big House, probably while eating a slice, and he had his Cuban lubricated. Hell, my mother said she'd vote for a 'guy' like that. In the UK these types of incorrigble men-children are called "Lads'.
The 9 dwarves are . . . . well. Personally I'd prefer Ambassador Wilson.
Haircut ain't gonna do it for 'James Taylor' Kerry

He looks weird to the general populace...he has to look more average. We are not in the 60's...."Almost cut my hair happened just the other day".~Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
I mean really look at the fact that California elected Schwartzenwhatever. Americans eat with and vote with their eyes....It wouldn't hurt Kerry to look like he isn't going to catch that hair in a ceiling fan or fall over from the sheer weight. In order for anyone to win Joe Regular has to be able to relate in some fashion.
I told a friend early on "the guy can't win, his hair is too big."
Come on if it was a woman with a big booooofont hair do you would recommend a change....come on don't say you wouldn't...

18. I get my hair cut at the same salon |
|
where he did at one time. A stylist told me that he suggested a shorter cut, but was told that Kerry's wife likes his hair longer, so he keeps that way. Gotta like a guy who cares more about what his wife likes about his looks than anyone else!
