Does anyone else think Michael Jackson is dying?
I think he is very ill, possibly mentally, and he is near the end of his rope. I'm not sure he can survive this trial.

Not that I'm sympathetic if he is guilty, but he has not been proven guilty,

Not yet.

Edited on Thu Mar-10-05 11:58 PM by ailsagirl
What makes you think he's ill? I'm sure you have your reasons-- but, since I'm not up on what's going on with him, I have to ask.

I know he's really messed up-- emotionally and psychologically-- but physically as well??

48. you may not be too far off on your thinking about Michael being a
target. Take a look at this little snippet. I found it while looking into the Jeff Gannon saga, it led me to all kinds of scary places on the internet but I found this particularly interesting in light of your comments.

snitp: Snip: The Fellowship certainly did not mind when singer Michael Jackson stayed with his children at the Cedars in October 2001 when he was in Washington for a benefit concert for the 911 victims. In a lawsuit filed in 1993, Jackson was accused of sexually molesting a 13-year-old boy. According to a September 27, 2002 Los Angeles Times article by Lisa Getter, Jackson’s stay at the Cedars was arranged through David Kuo, George W. Bush’s White House director of the Office of Faith-based Initiatives. Kuo, a former CIA employee who co-wrote a book with Ralph Reed, had been Executive Director of the Center for Effective Compassion, founded in 1995 by Arianna Huffington and Marvin Olasky. Olasky is a Jewish convert to evangelical Christianity, a major Christian reconstructionist proponent, and an ardent supporter of George W. Bush. Kuo also previously worked for the Christian Coalition and Senator John Ashcroft.

11. Jackson's trial is being held in my neighborhood, so we
get more coverage than we want. Sometimes we need to know if the grade is fogged in or the latest landslide has been cleared off of the highway but we are getting Michael or Scott all the time. My problem is, why should this be broadcast forever all over the country? I'm coming to the conclusion that trials involving celebrities should really be closed to the public. Look at th OJ fiasco.

At one time I thought that televising trials could be an educational thing for many people who can't go witness things in the courthouse, but the media doesn't want to televise the guy arguing over a property line or a mom and pop store being closed with eminent domain, they want the scandalous and sleazy. I say celebrity trials should be done behind closed doors. Once the courtroom is filled with observers, bye bye to anyone else.

It can be reported after wards like it used to be.

23. Dying? Not sure... Being hounded to a point where death is an escape- yes
This entire trial is a circus.

Michael Jackson is effing ODD but so are most very rich people. This latest family with the young boy they thrust into his lap are lying shits. I am glad Leno and one other famous Hollywoodian already testified that that same family had tried to set them up.

Sorry but I feel very sad for Michael. The "testimony" of that family is absolutely unbelievable and I say this as someone whose life was turned 180 degrees by child abuse in my husband's past.

I'm not saying Jackson is a saint but this entire latest charge is a JOKE. Michael Jackson's last album was heading in the dangerous antiwar, Muslims-are-people-too direction. How convenient this latest "scandal".

51. Thank you, Tinoire
If his sister LaToya is to be believed, Michael was the victim of a pedophile when he was a young boy. It's quite obvious he's never gotten treatment for that, or any other mental instability he may have.

The man has been shielded from reality for most of his life, he doesn't know how to handle it. Like the OP said, I don't expect him to be with us much longer, either, no matter what the outcome of this trial.

Captain Hook ends up getting eaten by the giant alligator. Wendy, John,Michael, and Peter go home and ask their parents if the Lost Boys can live with them. At first Wendy's dad isnt to sure and gets angry, but in the end they say yes. Peter watches as it happens and goes back to Neverland with Tinkerbell.

His fame and fortune was the result of his father pushing him every step of the way during his childhood.

The Jackson 5 was an integral part of alot of our childhoods. We watched Micheal Jackson become the superstar that he is.

As Americans, we owe him the benefit of the doubt.

Facts are, in America, you are INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT.

So,I say once again, "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than it is to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

I don't know if you were alive during the battle of the Jackson 5 and the Osmonds, but the music that came out of it was interesting to say the least.

Wait for the facts.

56. Just because you didn't like them doesn't mean they "sucked"
Who died and made you the god of musical taste? Those kids (and the Jacksons and the Osmonds were nothing but kids in their heyday) worked damn hard for what they got. They put out record after record, rode for months on stinking buses to do nightly concerts, got very little education so they could work, and lived in isolation alot of the time because they got mobbed if they went out in public. To me that's a hell of a life for a pre-teen or teenager to have to live.

As for talent, I'd pit young Michael against the "manufactured" teen idols of today any day. He had a beautiful voice, as opposed to "all tits and no talent" Brittany Spears, who croaks so badly she sounds life a frog in heat.

Anorexia, at the very least.

I feel sad about the whole thing. Jackson is the same age I am, and I grew up listening to his music for decades. There was a special on tv about his career a while back and my kids were amazed. They were shocked, first of all at how he's changed his appearance over the years, but also at how talented he was and what incredible fame and following he achieved at one time.

Before we watched this, they just thought he was a frail, creepy, nutso guy. They had no idea that he had been a HUGE pop star. When they saw him dance and do the moonwalk (this was film from the 80's) their jaws dropped.

I have no comment on the charges against him, except to say that if he did the things he's accused of, he should be found guilty and punished.

But even if the charges and the trial had never happened, I would still feel sad to see Jackson destroy himself. He is an icon of my generation.

I remember back in 1962, when I was in the Fourth Grade. Mrs. Randall, the school principal, was speaking to my class one day, and she said something that was so permanently etched in my mind, I can remember it to this day, more than 40 years later:

"Each minute we live is one minute closer to our death."

I am inclined to believe that he is innocent of the crime he's been accused of, but I'm aware that Mr. Jackson is imperfect and that among his weaknesses is an inclination to blow up minor pain or illnesses to more than they really are.

62. I think that regardless of the verdict, he's not going to prison.
If he's convicted, I look for him to either pull a Roman Polanski (flee the country) or commit suicide. And I think he's horrifically mentally ill (and likely criminally so).

63. I give him another ten years at most, under any circumstances
The guy has been through just as much self-abuse and hard-living as any alcoholic or heroin-addicted rock star, including Keith Richards or Jerry Garcia. And he's every bit as tragic as people like Garcia or Elvis or Kurt Cobain.

Then again, I didn't think Keith Richards -- pop music's other living-dead zombie -- would make it to 60, so I guess anything's possible.
