Oasis is on a level with Elvis, according to the Hard Rock Cafe.
Here you see a list of the top 10 memorabilia in the Berlin Hard Rock Cafe. The Oasis guitar is right there along with the Elvis outfit.

That establishes Oasis as part of the short list, and their record sales and frenzied international megastardom put them over Elvis.

1. That's like putting Ashlee Simpson on the same level as Barbra Steisand.
:D

3. I think Barbra should have considered lip-synching.
I think she has a great voice, and was certainly capable of singing in musicals, but there would have been improved sound quality if she would have recorded her vocals ahead of time and lip-synced them. That way they could have been run through high-quality studio microphones rather than ones adapted for stage use.

5. She would have, but I think only people with "acid reflux" are allowed...
...to do that.

2. But only in Berlin
And David Hasselhoff is bigger than Elvis in Germany.

Ergo, Oasis =< David Hasselhoff.

Thanks for clearing that up.

10. Only at the Hardrock cafe in Berlin
Which has about zero native Berliner customers.

At least, that was my first thought - "Wow, they don't really think much of Oasis."

13. Elvis is the King of Rock, but Noel Gallagher is the Prime Minister.
As such, Elvis is now a figurehead that has not much real power, but is still susceptible to public embarrassment from all the publicity.

15. And I never understood the "King of Rock" moniker
The vast majority of Elvis fans are country western people.

I grew up listening to rock stations - classic rock, pop rock, everything, beginning in the early 70s. If I heard Elvis more than 5 times, I'll eat my hat.

I heard Elvis MANY times on country western stations.

I don't think Elvis rocks at all. I don't think he's the king. If he is anything, he is the Jackanape who sits in the lowest dungeon throwing fresh straw occasionally to the inmates while picking his rat bites Of Rock.

:wtf:

I just don't get it.

20. In the early '70s, Elvis was a fat Vegas act. But during the '50s and
early '60s, he was the Great White Hope, the singer picked by the Machine to sell black music to the enormous market of white kids. Jazz had been co-opted a decade or two earlier, and now it was R&B, or "rock" to make the money. Elvis got morphed into a country western icon as his audience grew old and fat along with him.

In Memphis in 1954, Elvis rocked for a while.

16. There is no comparison between The Beatles and Oasis.
Their music has never been derivative of anyone else's music.

17. I can live with that. And I don't see any Beatles memorabilia there.
I'm guessing that the Beatles sold all their memorabilia to feed their massive drug habit.

19. May have megastardom, but in my opinion..
(What's The Story) Morning Glory is the only album worth buying from them.

And only in their heads is their stardom on par with Elvis. :-)
