I dislocated my shoulder...ask me anything. |
|
I know I normally shun "ask me anything" thread. But it hurts :( and I wanted a little Lounge sympathy. :)

Ok. No.
I have a trick shoulder. I dislocated it once really badly playing basketball as a kid. Then a few years back I really agravated it in a fall. Now if I have a lot of stress at work and the muscles in my neck are tight...it just takes the slightest twinge to pull it out of socket. I strained myself a bit at the gym 2 nights ago doing presses and BAM...dislocated shoulder.

11. Well, the first time... |
|
I dislocated it I slammed it back into place against the wall of the gym and kept playing. I was very macho as a kid. :)
I popped it back into socket this time too. It actually hurts worse AFTER I re-locate it. Just needs some heat and some aspirin and I'll live.
But thanks for the concern. :)

12. Careful with the heat on an acute injury... |

if you have any swelling I would suggest ice for the first couple of days. Heat will increase any swelling

the heat is actually on the muscles in my neck rather than my shoulder. The root cause of everything is the tension from work. As long as I can keep everything from seizing up in my neck, the shoulder has a chance to settle back into place.

13. Gym accident? Likely story. |
|
I'm thinking a fall from a bed, or a bash against the headboard.
Whatever the case, I hope your shoulder gets well soon.

|
I've had severe muscle aches in my right shoulder since last night. That plus my sneezing and congestion got me sent home from work this morning.
So anyway, I know, sorta, kinda how you feel. Get better soon.
I'm HOME. YAY! I get to play on DU all day!

I'm doing everything I can to forget my stupid shoulder. I hate achey muscles.
Stick me with some sharp object any day. At least the pain is over and done with soon. Muscle aches go on and on and on and.......

As to SXSW - I hadn't planned on going to any of the shows. But I may take next Wednesday off since GOPisEvil can't to be y'all's native guide for teh day if you want.
