So, say I have this friend who had this fling with somebody
Edited on Sat Mar-12-05 04:17 AM by A-Schwarzenegger
and it was getting pretty hot & serious pretty quick,
and they were talking long term, and then my friend finds out
that this somebody was already engaged to another person but
had neglected to tell my friend, so my friend finds out
about it and gets a heavy solid object and comes up to
this somebody and slams it into the somebody's face and
knocks them down and then my friend hits the somebody at
least a couple more times in the head with this heavy
solid object. What do you think about that?

10. No.
I'm making a smart-assed comment.
Now, if the person were engaged and gave the three of them herpes...

14. was your friend male and the somebody female?
Or vice versa? Or were they the same sex? Violence is wrong in all of these situations, but if its a man beating a women it's especially bad.

15. Then it's not so bad if it's a woman beating a man?

16. no, it's terrible
especially since an object was used. But you have to admit wife / girlfriend beating carries a particular connotation, usually since women are smaller and lack the same physical strength. It also suggests that this is a person who would beat any woman he was involved with, particularly a wife. Regardless, it's a horrendous response to the problem.

I actually was just curious about the sex of the parties in question.

If a person feels a strong need for revenge, there is lots of other stuff one can do, not that I'm advocating any of it. Violence, however, is criminal and really horrifying.

getting smacked in the head multiple times might rattle one's brain.

6. I think your engaged friend should pretend
the fling never happened and get into a fake car accident as a cover story for the injuries sustained from the heavy object.

11. I think a few of bags of lime, a storage locker and an old bathtub will...
...solve the problem your "friend" has.

Have him/her get a few of these, though:

18. I just have no frame of reference for that...
I couldn't imagine wanting to inflict physical bodily harm on someone I love no matter how badly he hurt me.

19. I think it's ridiculous
Of course I'd be angry and upset if such a thing happened to me, but assault is not the answer. I'd sooner chalk it up to good fortune that I found out before I wasted any more time on this person and move on.

20. Your friend has an anger management problem.
Anybody knows the best response would have been to slash her tires and put sugar in her gas tank. Gosh!

Seriously, though...

24. This beating was in the movie "Sideways," a comedy.
as RadicalActivist realized.

A female character beat a male character in the head with
a motorcycle helmet. I just wondered if the genders were
reversed in the beating, would it make any difference in
the way anybody sees it?

25. There is a difference.
If it had been a man beating a woman, that would have been
the center of the movie. As it is, I don't remember anybody
even talking about it.

26. Ironically, I hated that movie.
I thought it sucked major ass.
The only highlight was the naked fat man, and that's something I never thought I would say.

27. I Would Think
Honesty needs to be in order and that the person who slammed a heavy object should get the same help that the person who cheated got. Its all impulse. And none of it will help themselves, or those around them. If the cheating was a way out of the relationship it needs to end. If it can be helped and they want to work on it? That needs to be between those two people. But violence and lies never get much accomplished, other than destroy whats left of your life....and the people around you.
