Poll question: Poll for soap opera fans |
|
Are you male or female? There seem to be more male fans than ever (one soap opera digest now has a section for male fans,) and I wondered what percentage of male fans there is here.
I like having a story to follow. Sometimes they get farfetched, but they are rarely boring. Plus there are a lot of attractive women. From Y&R, the soap I watch, I have big crushes on Sharon Case and Lauren Woodland. Lily has special looks also, and would be up there if she was older. The older women like Nikki and Dru are also attractive. I have more crushes on actresses from other soaps. I've been watching for at about 5 years now and am addicted. :-)

1. I am seen as an intellectual and I have been |
|
watching General Hospital for 24 years.
I started when I had to spend so many hours nursing and rocking my daughter to sleep. lol
I stopped for 5 or 6 years in the late 80s and what do you know, when I returned to it they had not changed that much.
I tape it and sometimes wait a couple of weeks before watching it.
When I finally do, its like sitting down with a big box of chocolate.

my mom wanted a soap watching partner again. I started watching to be helpful, but I really enjoy them now.

3. Luke and Laura got me started |

When I was about 12. Been a fan ever since, it's a special treat for me to get to sit and watch quietly by myself. Tivo is awesome!

6. I still miss Another World -- it was pretty fun. |
|
I watch Days, just because so many of the characters are still around from when I was a little kid -- in the early '70's.

13. wouldn't you just love to see Cass and Felicia doing their |

best friend bit ?
I miss that show something awful. The day AW was cancelled was the end of soaps for me.
Days just got too wierd, although there was a hysterical group of fans on one of their chat boards that degenerated into a mass of satirical sendups of the show and the characters.

8. I just started back soap watching after about a 15 year hiatus... |
|
I used to tape and watch, One Life to Live. I'm not watching, As the World Turns. Gotta love Carly and Lilly fighting back the evil husband stealing, Julia. It's a trip seeing Lisa and Bob and Nancy Hughes again after all these years again. I grew up watching them from when I was a baby.

9. General Hospital fan here |
|
Back in the late 60s there was a soap called Dark Shadows. It was a big hit in my college dorm and we would all try to make it back from classes in time to watch it in the lounge. General Hospital was on right before that so I started watching that since I got to the lounge early.
It's had its ups and downs over the years. Luke Spencer is always worth watching. I'm not as crazy about it as I used to be since it tried to become Sopranos Lite. But that's what fast forward is for.

The Cassadines are still around; well the ones Luke didn't kill - Helena just returned from the dead again as Nicholas sits in prison for her murder. So it goes...

I watched it for many, many years, but where I live now it's on at 10AM, and that's just not a good time for me to watch a soap. If I tape it to watch later, I'd never watch it.
A few months ago, I got back into Days Of Our Lives, which I watched all through the 80s. It comes on around lunch time when I have some free quiet time.
