25. Hello!
How you doing? I'm in for the next meet-up. Just try to make it when I have a free weekend, please. Or any Sunday.

I had a great time talking with you at the Mesa. I now believe in syncronicity.

26. hello to you
mostly just working, that is the way of the wicked world, but did get a little bit of weeding done in my sorely neglected yard on Saturday.

Don't know how often this group likes to meet up, I was just pleased to find out the Texas Roadhouse has a fairly central location.

Keep an eye out, maybe there will be another meet up soon

Life is full of syncronicity, serindipity and strange coincidences! Enjoy it

10. post a photo if you can
the face says it all. One can't name a cat without seeing his face.

12. Did you name him yet?
If not, is he fluffy or sleek? Lean or big? What color eyes? Do you prefer a sophisticated or an ordinary or cute name?

I have a Persian I found as a stray. It took me ages to think of a name for him. For one thing, I fed him for quite a while before I claimed him as my own. I used to call him fur ball, which wasn't quite dignified. Because he was a Persian, my mother suggested all sorts of elegant Persian names. Only this cat wasn't elegant. He was a mess. At that time he smelled badly and had all kinds of sticks and burs stuck to his fur. I ended up calling him Larry.
He's no longer a mess, but Larry still suits him. He comes when I call him by the name, so I consider it effective, even though most people laugh at the name. My vet apparently doesn't consider Larry sophisticated of enough name for him, so he calls him Lawrence. I had a Siamese I called Moses. I looked at his face and he just seemed like a Moses. He was much easier to name.

15. We had a Persian we took in as a stray
My mom took her in. after hearing a cat outside during a blizzard, she opened the door and couldn't see anything. So she closed the door agian. She kept hearing the cat outside, but every time she went to look outside thru the window she couldn't see anythng. Finally, she decided to get dressed and went outside. She went outside, and at the bottom of the steps all she could see was a small grey spot moving around. She went over and finally saw that it was an all white Persian with such clear blue eyes, you could barely see the blue in them. So she took her in and dried her off. We decided to name her "Snowflake". We pretty much let her come and go as she pleased, figuring that she might have a home already and would want to return. But every time we let her out, she came back to us again. Shortly after, we considered her our own. She was the most loving cat you could want. She loved us, and she loved people in general. But she was a fighter when she was outside. She was definately the Alpha cat in the neighborhood, and one of the only cat's I've known to whoop ass on the dogs in the area too. There was a black dog that lived downstairs, not sure of the breed, but was an average sized dog, short hair, smallish ears that stood up not folded over. But anyways, that dog used to be tied up outside of our appartment house all the time. Barked at me and my brother all the time as we came and went. One day, I guess the dog must have broken the leash but as we came down the front steps, the dog ran into the hallway and started barking at us and blocking the way out. Next thing you know... Snowflake comes tearing down the stairs, leaps onto the dogs head and proceeds to beat the piss out of that dog. Not to offend the animal lovers, but that was the funniest, and strangest things I've seen.

18. woah, a cat that thinks it's a lion
Edited on Sun Mar-13-05 05:43 PM by imenja
That's wild. When my Persian first came around, I didn't think he was a stray, because you don't think of people letting loose of those kind of cats. He was declawed and SEEMINGLY neutered. But as I saw him sitting there in the rain day after day, I asked around the neighborhood. People said they thought he was mine. So I took him. It turned out he had a testicle that had not descended so he sprayed around the house. I took him to three vets in three different states before they finally figured out the problem. I'm glad I was patient with him. He's a wonderful cat.

Your Snowflake sounds like quite the cat. Amazing that you found her in a blizzard. We had a dog that appeared as a tiny puppy one Halloween when I was seven and disappeared without a trace nearly 20 years later on Thanksgiving. She was a little thing, a mixed breed of beagle, dachshund, and who knows what else. The dobermans and other big dogs in the neighborhood were afraid of her, but she never bit anyone. She was the smartest dog I've even seen. We never trained her, yet she behaved in outstanding ways and always protected us as children. Because of the way she appeared and disappeared and how remarkable she ways, we have always said she was an angel. Maybe Snowflake was your angel. She protected you and your brother from that dog. Quite remarkable for a cat.

23. It very well could have been our...
guardian. (edited term due to non-religious nature.) :)

She was an amazing cat. It was amazing how she was so loving when she was indoors but feared by dogs and cats alike when she was outside. She also had this habbit of bringing us "presents". If you've owned outdoor cats you know what I mean. lol
Well, she would bring us these presents and put in on the kitchen floor. She would wait in the kitchen until someone acknowledged it. I guess she caught on that we didn't eat the same stuff as her as we would wrap it up and put the present into the trash. So eventually, she would bring in the presents, wait for us to acknowledge it, then she would pick it up and put it in the trash herself. :wow: Now if we could have only gotten her to wrap them up too. LOL

19. if the cat has blue eyes I would name it Froggy
I once knew a man who had one name Frog, white blue eyed cat that was deaf (as they often are)..well when that one died he got another, and so on. The cat traveled with him in his work and was a fixture. The last time I saw this guy he was up to Frog VIII...and that was a long time ago.

So I would also name mine Frog in honor of Bob and his many white blue eyed deaf cats

24. I used to have one named cotton. I assume you mean 2 different colored eye
Then he was stolen along with 4 of our neighbor cats by the chinese restaurant down the street. They were stealing cats and serving them as chicken. They were caught when 30 cat heads was discovered in thier trash. I was 12 at the time, and it was so awful to find that out.

He had the best personality of any cat I ever had. Sniff

Because that's his name :) , although he also goes by the nickname Dave The White. Two blue eyes. His mom's name is Antimatter (also both eyes blue); his sister Neutrino has one green eye and one blue eye. So does his cousin Sculley.

28. Spook or Ghost, maybe Casper.
Depends a lot on the cat and the temperment. I had always thought I'd get a black cat and name it Voodoo, but never have... My black cat is WAAAAY to mellow to have ever been named for a beer!

I will admit, I do like the name Cracker that somebody came up with earlier. That one made me laugh out loud.
