5. You'd like
the Barra MacNeils

Bruce Guthro is another very good Canadian / Celtic singer who has toured with Leahy.

7. Awesome, I will look them up
I've had some Celtic stuff around for years, but am just recently realizing how much I really like it, especially ocean-related stuff (sea shanties, etc.) Thanks for the suggestions!

3. give a listen to "The Duhks"

http://www.duhks.com/index.php

"The five practiced, risk-taking twenty-something musicians and singers who make up this singular new band out of Winnipeg, Manitoba will, if asked, good-naturedly toss out some of the attempts at labels astonished listeners have turned to…In the two years that they've been a unit, many have tried to describe The Duhks' music-- "contemporary acoustic," "progressive soul-grass," and “kick-ass rock/folk fusion” being just a few of the attempts to classify the group."

You just might like them.

on edit: the description doesn't say celtic but you can 'hear' it a bit in their sound.

8. My favorites
Planxty, the unknown supergroup-- the people who made up the band all continue to do important work in the Celtic realm: Andy Irvine, who introduced the bouzouki to Ireland; Christy Moore, a strong politically aware singer; Donal Lunny, who's now a producer much in demand; and Liam O'Flynn, who's probably my favorite Uilleann piper in all of Ireland. They made a bunch of terrific records in the '70s.

Robin Williamson-- if you ever wanted to know what a Celtic muezzin would sound like, he's it.

Derek Bell, harpist for the Chieftains, also did a couple records on his own of the works of Turlough O'Carolan, the itinerant 17th century harpist who was Ireland's foremost composer, and of course they're lovely.

I was a big fan of Steeleye Span too, back in the day, although they got their repertoire from all over the British Isles, not just the Celtic strains.

9. Any Pogues or Christy Moore?
Christy Moore is better than sex, or food, or breathing.

Khash.
