Since The Who and The Clash are my 2 favorite bands, "London Calling" and "Quadrophenia" are 1 and 1a on my list.

6. The funny thing is that I actually appreciate it more now than I did |
|
when it was first released. BTW - I'm a major Who fan as well. In fact, it's because of Pete Townshend that I even knew of the Clash - he was so excited by them when they first formed in London.
Anyway, the thing that is remarkable about both albums (and others on the list) is the fact that they have stood the test of time - neither album sounds dated.

13. I didn't listen to " London Calling" until 1981....... |
|
Edited on Sun Mar-13-05 11:38 PM by General Zod
....of course, I had heard "Train in Vain" on the radio when it was released in the spring of 80, but it wasn't until I went to college in 81 that I heard the album in it's entirety.
I had friend who was a huge punk fan. He turned me on The Clash, The Ramones, The Pistols, etc. Your right, it does hold up after all these years. It sound as fresh and relevant today as it did 25 years ago.

other day. I was thinking to myself how relevant the music of the Clash still is today.
"We will teach our twisted speech, to the unbelievers... We will train our blue eyed men, to be young believers..."
Amazing album, amazing songs, amazing band!! These guys definitely knew what was up when it came to politics and government.

Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs
My all time favorite record. Claptons passion and the pure chemistry that he had with the band (especially Duane Allman and Bobby Whitlock) just make that whole thing magical
