My Dad got in a car accident today...but he's OK
Dad feel asleep at the wheel at around 2PM and his car wiped out, rolled over a few times. He did hit one car but avoided an oil truck that was right behind him.

He had been running ragged driving his wife of 49.5 years to a flower show this past weekend at very early hours so she could show her arrangements. She won some prizes.

The police and witnesses to the accident are amazed that he didn't have any broken bones and only suffered some cuts from glass and other objects as the PT Cruiser was demolished.

Angels helped him through this. I thank them with all my might.

2. Quite a blessing.
I shouldn't be bitching so much about how my car isn't running right now. I'll really feel bad if it turns out to be a small thing after what happened to your dad.

5. happened to my dad ...
cruising down the highway with my mom in the car ... he fell asleep and hit the center guard rail ... my mom screamed at him and he woke up and regained control of the car ... they were really, really lucky ...

no more long drives late in the day for him ...

real glad your dad's OK ...

btw, just fyi, they do make some kind of device that hooks over your ear ... if your held tilts down, an alarm goes off ... no idea how well these work ...

6. Glad he is okay
The result could've been far worse, of course.

My mom fell asleep at the wheel one night and flipped her car end over end three times. She broke her back in several places, but can walk today.

Scary shit.

8. Thanks for all your wonderful replies
It means a lot. And for those that had their parents have the same thing happen, all the best that they survived.

You people rock!
