Guinness = nectar of the Gods |
|
I just recently discovered the wonder that is Guinness. I never used to like it, I always thought it was too bitter but one day I decided to drink the entire beer and what do you know, the taste grew on me. Now I love it, can't get enough. In fact I had two tonight at my uncle's house. Plus I just found out that it only has 125 calories! Pissy Coors light has 110! It has less calories than a can of Coke!
I love Guinness, I don't care if people say it is a man's beer, because this girl loves it!

fan of any kind my own self (White Russians, now, that's another story) but those who like it do tend to like the Big G from what I hear

2. Well if you go to Ireland |
|
you wont find anyone saying its a men only beer. When I went over there I saw more than one woman drinking a pint of Guiness. I also went on a tour of the brewery. So do you drink it cold or traditional (just below room temp) BTW welcome to the club.:toast:

4. The great thing about European beers |
|
is that when they do get warm they still taste the same. Unlike American beers which mostly taste like water. I will when I get a Guiness and they serve it cold let it sit for a while till it warms up. Something you may want to try sometime ( I only can find it at the two Irish pubs in the area) is a drink called either a "Black Swan or an Irish Mist." Basically they take Guiness and mix it with champagne. Its great!

5. Guinness = drinking a loaf of brown bread! |
|
I've tried––really, I have. I've even had a Guinness in Dublin, fresh from the brewery. But I just cannot get with the stouts. Give me a nice ale or even a lager. Harp? Great. Smithwick's? Beautiful. Boddingtons? Yep. (yes, I know it's Mancunian) Guinness? I'd rather drink Bud. Erin go bragh, all the same, though... ;-)

|
My friends at school are always on my case about my beer/liquor choices. Hey what can I say I go high class...I won't drink the swill they serve at parties.

15. It is truly the ultimate "light" beer... |
|
only 125 calories and if you drink 3 or 4, you've got quite a nice buzz. As opposed to other light beer's that are equal to that in the calorie department, I could drink a 6 pack and feel nothing...well maybe I'd feel a little something

7. BTW Another beer you may want to try |
|
and not knowing where you live I can't really tell you where to find it. Its rather a specialty beer and you wont find it at a distributor is called "Lambic Framboise." It is TRUELY ambrosia of the gods. Its a Raspberry ale from Belgium and utterly delic!! You have to be careful though it packs twice the wallop in alchohol content of an American beer and it taste like soda. Also unlike American beers the older it is the better it becomes. The last bottle I had ($5.99 for a 21 oz) was five years old and that was just bought from the store.

9. They first time I had it |
|
was up at State College, PA while visiting a friend. He went to get the next round and came back with a bottle. I looked at him strangely when he told me what it was. Then I took a swig and I have been totally hooked ever since. I could drink it by the case. The only thing that saves me is that its so expensive where I live. The only place that carries it is a six pack store around here and they charge $9.99 a 12 oz bottle. Luckily for me the next closest place is a liquor store in Towson, MD he sells it for $5.99 a 21 oz bottle but he is an hour drive. So I usually have to prepare a bootlegging run and get mess of stuff to make it worth the trip.

In fact, I traveled to Dublin, Ireland just so I could sit in an Irish pub and drink Guinness on tap.

the widget gives Guinness that taste of being drawn out of the tap when you pour the entire can into a TALL glass quickly:beer:
