Need to get this off my Chest
I work for a cell phone company

But I hate cell phones. I do not have one will never get one it is nothing more than a collar around your neck.

I hate it when people next to me are on the damn phone. I do not want to hear their phone conversation. I hate stupid ass drivers on the damn phone.

I dream of buying a cell phone jammer and just driving around town.

1. I use mine a little.
Why are people so against them? This is 2005, not the 1950s. People can be annoying with or without cell phones.

2. I was on a MUNI bus in SF one day....
A man in a suit was using a cell phone, and apparently he was having problems with reception. He kept saying, in a loud, clear voice, "Hello? Hello? Hello?" A homeless man on the bus then said, "PRETTY BOY! AWK! PRETTY BOY! POLLY WANT A CELL PHONE?" Everyone on the bus just started laughing their asses off. The cell user glared at him and kept trying to make his call.

3. I know the feeling.
I work for a company whose bread and butter is IVRs and voice technology, and I HATE voicemail. I hang up when I get it.

Go figure.

4. The jammers ARE for sale on the internet. I think they may be illegal,

but they are available. The irony is that those idiots sitting there with the cell phones next to their heads for hours at a time may very well be cooking their brains. There is a good chance that the radio waves emitted by the cell phones can do a lot of damage to the brain, and considering how many hours some of those idiots sit and talk on their cell phones, I don't want to think what the results will be down the road.
I hate the stupid people who sit in public places, and on buses, etc...and talk as if there is no one else around. They talk about anything..private issues, that no one else really wants to hear. They make it imposible to read, to think, or to have a conversation with anyone else. It is the ultimate of self-centered narcissisim.
EDIT: They do not make the slightest attempt to tone down their voice. That is the problem. They talk as if they are sitting in their kitchen. I read an article in the NYTimes that said they act as if they are in the "Cone of Silence" from the old "Get Smart" show.

5. Well, I have to qualify it
I hate rude people, not cell phones. I have a cell and use it occasionally. I find it comes in handy especially when I'm travelling - I don't have to find a pay phone to make a call.

Rude people will be rude regardless of whether they have a cell phone or not. They're the same people who talk loudly in movie theaters, or who put all their groceries on the belt at the supermarket then walk away to find "just one more item" and hold up the entire line. They're the ones who pull out in front of you on the road and then slow down.

The world has always been full of jerks. It's not the technology - it's the people who use it.

6. I gave mine up when I started working from home. It didn't
work in my building anyway.

I positively love not having a cell phone. Do not miss it one itty bitty bit.

7. I heard
Recall the old days of Black and white TV. When cars would travel by the TV would go bonkers.

I heard that was the result of a solid copper wire from the spark plugs to the Distributor. Now we have graphite to kill that interference. I heard you can buy old style wires at tractor supply places. This would have the same affect on cell phones :)
