Has anyone filed online with Turbo Tax? |
|
I dont have a complicated income situation and H&R block will charge ne $100.00 to file. Has anyone here done the Turbo Tax route? Is it safe?

It'll walk you through the whole process, you just need your W-2s, any other relevant forms, loan info, etc. I did it the past two years. This year I had to actually buy the program, because I had to file partial-year returns in two states. Otherwise, really easy, plus you can check your previous years in the future. I do believe that the first year you file, you'll have to print and mail your return, and then the years after that, you can use the info from your previous year to file electronically. Still, worth the savings, IMO.

3. I've used it the past two years with no problems. |
|
I think it's $35 for fed and $35 for state so it ends up a bit cheaper than H&R Block.

4. I've been doing TurboTax for several years now... |
|
and I really like it. I've got a rental, a business, depreciation, all that crap, and it still makes it really easy.

Cost is minimal, it's nearly fool-proof too.

8. Use the free version at www.irs.gov |
|
Go to www.irs.gov and click one of those links.
You don't get turbotax's fancier version, but it's all free of charge.
I've used turbotax online for 4-5 years now.

Had to pay to file my state tax, but federal was free. It took me maybe an hour to get it all done. It's really pretty easy to follow along with the directions they give.

10. Yep, for the last three years. |

Get the Deluxe or premier edition, and then you get a rebate on your efile and your state (effectively free, but it's a rebate.)
How complex? We file 1040 with a freelance schedule and amortization and depreciation of office goods. Plus, we have interest income. Our federal return ran 14 pages last night.
It took me 2 hours. Did I mention that I adore Turbo tax?
