O Avocado
your meat entices me

your nubbly skin so brown
makes me want to gobble you down.

I slice you up, keep your lovely pit
and I'll watch you sprout in a cup
for a long long long long long long long
time.

I made you into guacamole tonight
that I ate scooped up on
warm fresh flour tortillas.

I love you sliced thick on sandwiches,
hidden here and there in a wrap.

I know, right? I got this one on sale. Can't remember how much. VERY not ripe when I bought it so it tortured me on the counter for three days.

15. My Grandma had two huge trees with the BEST avocados

real meaty and huge. They'd cost $3 in the store if I could find them.

I wished we had kept avocado rights when her house was sold after she died :-)

6. There's a restaurant in town that offers tempura batter dipped

avocado slices fried. Not something you want to eat everyday, but oh so delicious. Comes with several dipping sauces. Damn, I must be getting hungry...
