Yay! I'm finally going to get to see The Matrix Reloaded tonight! |
|
Edited on Tue Oct-14-03 03:52 PM by khephra
This summer has sucked for me getting out to the theaters. I usually see films like this one opening week. But Bush has just beaten me down so much that I don't want to do anything after I get done with work.
So here in two hours I'm going to sit back, smoke a...errrrrrr ciggie, and enjoy the show on DVD.
Woo Hoo!

1. It's good....keep a "clear head" |
|
For the Architect scene, late in the movie...very neat conversation, an enigma wrapped in a riddle....and the key to understanding what's going on

16. You must see KILL BILL!!! |
|
The "Smith" fighting scene in reloaded...redone...with 100% LIVE ACTORS! The scene in the Matrix was 4 guys and a bunch of nifty computer effects...Kill Bill has a massive fight scene like this...only with REAL PEOPLE and with freakin SWORDS!!!

But work and moving has kept me from getting there yet. I plan on seeing that and probably Texas Chainsaw this weekend.

20. I thought the matrix was a bit better. |
|
With the live actors, the ones in the background were naturally doing the little "I'm in the background but I'm still fighting the lead character in the foreground dance." In the Matrix, the animators fixed it up so they actually look like they're almost doing something. Of course I'm sure Tarantino was going for that look, but for pure fighting it was the Matrix that won out.

But I've also heard some bits here and there that some of the story elements that bothered people will be explained as being "not what everyone thought" in the next one.

6. No movie tonight for me....grrrr |
|
I have to participate on a conference call with folks in CA for work - 6pm-8pm, then will be too tired/late to get out to the burbs to buy Reloaded today.
Hopefully, GF will pick it up and we can watch tomorrow, tho I am sure I've seen a copy of it ripped from a movie theater somewere around.
Get ready for Revolutions!

this movie sucked. it had a few scenes that were good, but overall it really blew compared the the first one. it reeks of paid product placement and profiteering. just doesn't seem like it was needed. I'm a big fan of the first one, this one has too much fighting and not enough philosophy for my taste.

Way too much mindnumbing fighting.
******spoilers*******
Like take the scene where neo fights all those100 smiths.. why didnt he just fly away?
And when neo battles those guards of the french guy on the stairs.. he fights and fights and dont kill them until after like 15 mins.
Just stupid to show off the fighting

10. The big thing (semi-spoiler): |

Don't be disappointed that there is no ending. I mean none at all. Many of us who paid full price to see it at the theater were ready to throw things. (Personally, I thought it was funny-- the lack of ending, that is)

Technically the movie starts off very slow, but the freeway scene itself is worth the money of the DVD.
Philosophically the movie is tight too. My friend, who teaches philosophy in New York City, saw a lot of Schopenhauer in this movie, while I interpret it as something taken from the Spinoza/McTaggart/Bradley tradition of thinking.

27. Well Keph, what did you think... |
|
of it?
I found it to be a little confusing, but I expoected that since it is a trilogy, and don't expect a fistful of answers till Revolutions.
While I realize this was just entertainment, it still has to make a 'little' sense. If Neo could stop bullets in mid-air, seems to me he could have crushed 100 Smiths....oh well, just me.
Besides, I have to see it a second time, after all, I know I missed some things.

But I ended up falling asleep before I could watch it.
Tonight, after I'm done moving, I'll watch it. Tonight I'll be stuck on dialup with no cable internet or tv, so it's a better time to watch it anyway.

A bit more confusing, but nonetheless, thoroughly enjoyable.

the fight scenes in this one were drawn out wayyyyyy too long. And the CGI was so damn apparent I though I was watching a cartoon at times. After watching the Animatrix I also expected a deeper story in this movie. The story is there but it was put on the back burner for the action scenes. Not till he meets the Architect (and the scene with the Oracle too) does the (IMO) wonderful and thought provoking story of the Matrix come back in the forefront. That said Ill be going to see Revolutions ASAP.
