I hate to do this but have to ask... the Peterson thing. |
|
what exactly hanged him? What was the evidence? The fact that he was a cheating husband in this moral world we now live in?
What hard evidence did the jury have to take this mans life away?
I kinda blush asking this as I so dislike all the attention that story took away from everything more important, but I have a feeling this is just another pile-o-crap in the newjustice way to use and abuse us.
btw, is modesto close to sonoma?

and by what I recall from a while back when this story broke, Modesta has had it's share of some very odd almost ritualistic crimes in their community.
google modesto, ritual, murder, see what you get.

2. Peterson hung himself. |
|
He went "fishing" 2 miles from where the bodies were discovered on the day Laci disappeared. Couple that with all the stupid actions he took during the search for her and the complete lack of evidence of involvement by any other person and the jury came to the justifiable conclusion of guilt. We could argue the death penalty until we're blue.

4. Not to mention his alleged escape plans. |
|
He was caught near Mexico with an altered appearance, thousands in US dollars, several different ID's and credit cards. All this on the day his wife's body washed up (not far from where he was fishing). Doesn't sound like an innocent man to me.

so? someone just may have ( heh ) known where he fishes.
As for the stupid actions, hell, I'd be pretty damned stupid and addled too in those circumstances. I wouldn't be guilty, but I sure as hell might Look like I am.

9. He NEVER went fishing there. |
|
He just bought the boat and told no one about it. He was so inept at launching it that he drew laughter from the park workers who were present. He couldn't have done more things to attract suspicion if he'd taken out a full page ad in the Modesto Bee. Stupid and addled are one thing. He was, and acted, guilty.

early in the story I sure I heard that this was the place he regularly went fishing to.
I ask again, is he being executed because he was addled and didn't know how to fish or where, or was there Evidence that he killed his wife and son?

He told everyone else he was going to play golf.

6. I think it was a combination of things that hing him. |
|
First the blatant lies he even told his girlfriend about where he was, that he had lost his wife (before Lacey was dead), talking to Amber on his cell while they were having a vigil for Lacey. Most of those lies were for no reason at all.
That he was fishing is the same place where Lacey & Connor's bodies washed ashore. A little too coincidental.
The biggest thing though that seemed to influence the jurors was his absolute cold lack of emotion, through the questioning, his stupid TV appearances, and the entire trial.

That he was fishing is the same place where Lacey & Connor's bodies washed ashore. A little too coincidental. == Yes, it is. If he fished there regularly, then it wouldn't be so secret to have the bodies appear near there, no?. I think it was actually a couple miles away from there.
The biggest thing though that seemed to influence the jurors was his absolute cold lack of emotion, through the questioning, his stupid TV appearances, and the entire trial. == Another death sentence - how you should Act in Distress. I don't know how I'd Act if something like that happened to someone close to me. I might be a raving maniac or turn off zombic. Is that a crime - having an emotion that is not 'right' for the public consumption and understand?

19. The evidence had a cumulative effect & pointed to his guilt. Period. |
|
Circumstantial evidence can pile up to the point that it is clear that a person caused the death of the person who is dead. You don't have to have a bloody weapon or even a motive.
The jury is allowed to consider the weight of cumulitive circumstantial evidence.
----------------------
Peterson began shopping for the 14-foot Gamefisher the weekend a friend threatened to tell his mistress he was married. He did not tell any friends or relatives about the boat.
Peterson left his pregnant wife Christmas Eve morning to drive 90 miles to the bay. He had never fished in the bay before, it was cold, and he passed numerous freshwater lakes, rivers and reservoirs along the way.
Peterson told detectives that his Christmas Eve trip to San Francisco Bay was a last-minute decision, but four days before, he had purchased a two-day fishing license valid for Dec. 23 and 24.
Peterson took a $39 freshwater fishing rod and freshwater lures to the bay. He did not have the proper equipment to catch sturgeon or striped bass, for which he claimed to be fishing.
Peterson manufactured at least one cement weight that is now unaccounted for. Concrete takes at least 24 hours to set.
The remains of Laci Peterson and her fetus were found 1.25 miles from the part of bay where Peterson claimed to be fishing. A hydrologist linked the route of the fishing trip to the location of the child's body.
On Dec. 9, the same day he bought the boat, he told Frey he had "lost his wife" and would be spending his first holiday alone.
Peterson told Frey he was traveling for business, but would be able to spend more time with her by the end of January.
Peterson researched currents, boat launches and fishing grounds in the bay two weeks before his wife disappeared.
Although members of Laci Peterson's family testified that she never mentioned Peterson's boat, police found a hair consistent with her genetic profile on a pair of pliers found in the boat.

But neither was Laci's head. The tapes of conversations w/ Amber Frey, Peterson's statements and comments to police, his actions up until his arrest, his propensity to lie, his story of fishing 2 miles from where the bodies washed up on the day Laci went missing...

Everything in my post is public record. Maybe you should read up on the case a little bit prior to forming your opinion. 12 jurors listened intently to all of the evidence presented and found him guilty and recommended death. You, by your own admission, didn't follow the case and disagree.

It was a Media hanging. Can't you dig that? He was guilty months and months ago. Why do you trust the media on matters like this when we Know Better. There's always an agenda for them. Scott was the filler to distract from Bush's many follies. The story was compelling.... holy shit! decapitation! killing your own unborn son! how sensational and delish!

Why do you think you Know Better than I?

I don't know better, I made that clear at the start... I know very little about this case as I refused to follow it like was expected of me. I wanted a summary, I wanted to hear What Exactly Got Him The Death Sentence... the Evidence that Killed him. and so far I hear nothing that means anything except for he wasn't a nice man and his pliers had his wifes hair on them.
as I asked before, can pliers decapitate? I dunno. But sure sounds 'Evidentia'l in this regard. And seeing as he's Living With Her, a hair tagged along and dropped off is no big fricken Deal. it would be if he was a Stranger.
