11. Absolutely.
I can go on just throwing out random lines all night. Rap was some powerful music back then, too bad it's almost all commercial "bling and bitches" crap now. I haven't found a new rapper I liked in 10 years.

have taken up that gauntlet recently, in all seriousness.

18. The Ice T Cop Killer stuff was the precedent.
That shit is always good. Like Biggie or Tupac at their heights - way too hard to be allowed to live.

23. You know, real angry lyrics, hard & heavy beats.
Whether it's gangsta, political or just psycho shit. I like the old school style with just the beat and the rapper without all the samples and effects too.

there's so much good hip hop coming out in the last few years

are you familiar with madlib or mf doom? if not, pick up anything that either of those guys have touched...which can be tricky as they both have roughly 800,000 aliases

7. Yeah, Jackin for Beats is cool.
Takes all the popular beats of the time and makes them his own. That was rap's golden age.

listening to it?

As you know, it's one of my all-time favorites. "Bird In The Hand" is one of my favorite songs.
