4. the A's aren't going to New York tonight
The sox at least have a shot. It an outside chance but when the last out is recorded I will give up. Not a moment before then.

15. I think you have it just about right...
Winning 2 in a row in Yankee Stadium in Oct.

That about says it all. It can be done. But, not by any team with a single defeatist thought amongst them.

12. wakefield?
i think there is a better chance of wakefield pitching tomorrow on 1 day rest than pedro on three. as a knuckleballer, wakefield probably could pitch every day if need be. hells in the past a knuckleballer has been known to start both ends of a doubleheader!

that being said i think the sox will roll the dice against my yanks tomorrow and pitch burkett. they need to save pedro for a possible game 7 and also that way they can use wakefield in relief in either game.

as a yankee fan i gotta like the matchup tomorrow. pettite vs burkett in a yankee statium that will be rockin'!!

who does everyone like in tonights marlin-cubbie game? will the goat curse bite the cubbies?

peace

3. There's still a long way left
They've got Pedro going at least once more, and possibly even Wakefield again.

I would be surprised if this one does not go 7.

5. They should NOT start Burkett tomorrow!
He's a hack. Pedro will have to go on 3 days rest if they want to stay alive.
I have a sick feeling that tomorrow will be all for the Sox this season.

Wake...maybe? Just a thought. Grady just said Pedro won't pitch tomorrow.

On edit...Burkett may start but I bet Wakefeld relieves.

8. Burkett has to go one of the games
Edited on Tue Oct-14-03 06:38 PM by TSIAS
I was thinking about this last night. There's no way Lowe can go anymore games. Pedro can pitch only once more. If it goes 7, either Wakefield or Burkett will have to go once. I know Wakefield is a knuckleballer, so it's possible he could come back on Thursday on two days rest and bring Pedro back tomorrow. Unless he's going to bring Wakefield back, I think he has to go with Burkett tomorrow.

I remember Burkett from Atlanta. He was pretty solid with us. He was decent in San Francisco as well. Also a pretty good bowler.

Grady Little's got a lot to think about overnight.

11. all those Braves Pitchers bowl
its part of their muscle memory training if I remember correctly.

I have faith in Burkett so long as he gets off to a clean start. It would help if the Sox could get one in the first to take the crowd down a notch.

I am glad I am not Grady on that short flight tonight.

13. Don't do that now, you make me feel sorry for you
then I get all mushy and start rooting for the Sox, until certain pitchers start throwing old men on the ground and certain DUers defend it, then I have to root against you all over again.

14. The Sox are better off playing from behind.
Edited on Tue Oct-14-03 07:04 PM by HuckleB
It's playing with the lead that's bitten them in the past. Same with the Cubs, which scares me to no end.

If they pitch Pedro and Wakefield, they've got a 50/50 shot at it yet.

Besides, after four game five losses in a row, who's gonna trust the A's late in any series?
