31. Gary Owens (Laugh-In) was the voice of Ramjet.
Edited on Thu Mar-17-05 04:52 PM by CanuckAmok
It's freakin' hilarious. It was on at 11:00am weekdays where I lived as a teen (scahsing in on the stoner deadheads living in their parents' basements, I think), and, if you can believe this, the last time I saw it was on TV in Cyprus.

Cyprus!

I'd love to find them on DVD... they really are hysterical.

That oversized voice mismatched with the limited animation head. Was that a Jay Ward cartoon?

35. It was very Jay Ward-esque... but I don't think it was Ward.
It was on such a shoestring, though, that instead of animating entire sections of dialogue, they would have cards with the most common phrases in the scripts written on them, and insert them in the parts of dialogue when the person was saying the words.

So you'd be watching Ramjet saying "The Poer of twenty atom bombs of a period of twenty seconds", and for the duration of that statement, the phrase was shown on the screen.

I think it's lack of availibility now is that the whole 'superhero' part of the story was that he popped these pills that gave him the aforementioned strength. Probably not a great role model in Bush's Murika.

41. Didn't he also have noodles named after him?
I seem to remember him being on some noodle package--egg noodles that were very delicious to a little kid.

In any case, the more you relate, the better I remember why I loved that show when it was on.

43. The villain's name was Noodles Romanoff (and his band of No-Goods)
Other villains included:

The Dreaded Solenoid Robots

Dr. Frank N. Schwein

A purple gorilla that Ramjet named "Mr. Oit", for some reason

and some pirate who's name escapes me.

No, Homer. Very few cartoons are broadcast live, it's a terrible strain on the animators' wrists.
