Disabled parking spots versus toilet stalls for the disabled- |
what's your opinion on them? I consider parking spots to be reserved for those who need and are authorized to use them, whereas the toilet stalls in public restrooms- the nice roomy stalls with the higher toilet, are merely disabled accessible, but are available to anyone- I've heard of some handicapped people putting up a fuss when the stall they want/need to use is occupied, and then a non-disabled person walks out.(although i've never encountered it- i saw this topic in Dear Abby years ago)

1. oh, it SO burned my a@@ when I was at a crowded function |
and this STUPID security guard prevented anyone from using the handicapped women's room who wasn't disabled. There was a long, long LONG line waiting to use the one other bathroom, and NO ONE using the other one. I wanted to SCREAM--you MORON! the bathroom is NOT RESERVED, it's just ACCESSIBLE! (just what you said) what a F(*^#% DUMBASS! funny, I just thought of this a few days ago too.

2. I deal with issues like this because I'm disabled |
It does not bother me when someone uses a handicap stall because people need to go. However, it really makes me mad when a non-disabled person uses a handicap parking spot. Those people are lazy and take for granted they can walk.
Sometimes I have to park my van in a regular spot and when I get back someone has parked next to me, and I have to wait to get my lift down.

5. it also really pisses me off when the people WITH placards- |
park in the striped spots next to the actual handicapped spots when all those handicapped spots are full- they should know better. some people(like yourself) NEED that empty space to enter/exit their vehicle.

3. I agree with you. Although, if someone expresses an urgent need for the... |
...disabled stall while I'm in it, I'll get out as quickly as possible. I can use the regular stalls but I prefer the disabled ones because they're roomier and usually cleaner.

7. That's my attitude as well. |
I'll use the handicapped stall, but if there's someone who really needs it, I'll be out of there in a flash!
I should also say, I like the handicapped stall, 'cause I'm a tall lady, and it's higher up from the ground. :)
You would Never, Ever, Ever, though, find my car in a handicapped spot. Ever.

4. Handicapped bathroom stalls are for everyone |
Only priority for the handicapped if a handicapped person is actually in the restroom at the time. As far as I am concerned, the handicapped guy also gets to go to the front of the line.

6. Disabled stalls are there for anyone, but if a disabled person needs it |

he/she should be given preference. It's no different than the seats that are labeled for the disabled in airports or buses. If you are sitting in one and a disabled person needs it, you get up and let them sit there.

9. They're for everyone, but |
if I was next in line, and the handicapped stall was the next available, and I noticed a person in a wheelchair who was also in line, I'd offer to let them go ahead of me. Why should they have to wait longer than anybody else simply because every stall is not properly equipped?
