Rough letter to the editor, any suggestions appreciated !
“Cheat in Underdog’s Clothing” or “Underdog Placebo Syndrome”

The Bush Administration’s practice of promoting itself, its policies, and its followers as somehow holy and in constant struggle to overcome a great evil is amusing to me.

The President is just an underdog, a “plain and simple” man with great ambitions, and all who would oppose him are “un-American” and evil.

Who is oppressing this administration?? The Oppressed? Are the rich getting poorer?

No. They are the Oppressors. They are the rich, and they are getting richer through abuse of power.

The “We’ll tell it like it isn’t to your face, and like it is behind your back” modus operandi,(i.e. Clear Skies, Healthy Forests, No Child Left Behind, use of the word “freedom”), needs to be seen for what it really is. The administration either suffers from “Underdog Placebo Syndrome”, or they are just “Cheats in Underdog’s Clothing.”

If you want to know a tree, look at its fruit. The only “fruit” this tree has borne have been a “few bad apples”, as in Abu Ghraib. The tree’s policy of torture left it’s fruit to rot. Responsibility was avoided at all costs. Accountability was left to the apples, who were betrayed. This tree was a deadbeat dad. The fruit was aborted by a supposed “pro-life” tree.

It is time for Americans to see through the administration’s thinly veiled intentions. The administration will continue on the course of making America believe it is the victim/underdog, so that behind closed doors it can carry on with the awful things it is doing. America is a battered wife, the husband is the administration. Hubby can continue to tell us how bad it would be without him, and how another hubby would be worse, but he, and he alone is the perpetrator. And we are the victim AND the enabler, until we press charges. It is that “plain and simple”.

3. You might want to provide an example....
"The Bush Administration’s practice of promoting itself, its policies, and its followers as somehow holy and in constant struggle to overcome a great evil is amusing to me."
A concrete example might be good....

4. Love the battered wife analogy! And this was the idea from the
beginning of Shrub's first term. How else to explain why he has peopled his "cabinets" etc. with recycled scum from other Republican administrations: Rumsfeld, Cheney, Negroponte, Rice, Powell, none of whom will tell the truth. This country has been royally screwed!

7. Thing is I like Colin Powell...I think unfortunately he
stuck to being a "good soldier", sticking by his chain despite personal and professional differences. The thing here was, Powell had more postitive experience than any of the other cabinet members, including the President. They should have listened to Powell, not the other way around. The aluminum tube thing from him floored me.

He, unlike other members of the administration, was irate over the Abu Ghraib mess. The memo to Gonzales pissed him off. They should have listened to Powell there, as well. I think Abu Ghraib was the biggest screw up of the administration. That is what other countries see about us now.

What a shame.
