Hangover cures? A number of DUers will need some after tonight. |
|
Edited on Sun Mar-20-05 01:16 AM by Wonk
Not me, I'm sober as a judge tonight, but after the DU meetups today I've seen a fair bit of PWI going on here, from Boston and Austin, and maybe elsewhere too.
The best advice I can think of for them is to drink a tall glass of water before going to bed, and another when they get up. Anyone know any better hangover remedies than that for them?

Hello from Germany, If you're afraid to have a hang-over. Drink more alcohol. It's a Bush like solution, but it will work. There's "good" alcohol, 'causing the "High" and bad alcohol causing the hangover. But the liver will always work the good alcohol first. So if you want to stop the hangover, drink more...
If you have more questions tomorrow, pardon me, I'm not available...

20. 8 oz water/drink; 4 tylenol+2aspirin; 1 PBJ sandwich and fruit. |
|
Water to replace lost water; tylenol to deal with electrolyte loss induced aches and headache; aspirin to work as blood thinner to help get that H2O and O2 around; PBJ for protein, carbs, and minerals; fruit for fiber and carbs.
It got me through university.

...I'm Irish, 41 years old, and have been drinking all my life - it goes with being Irish - but I've got to say, thats the first time I've heard of that astute combination. It sounds like there may be some logic behind it, so I'm going to try it tonight....wish me luck!

22. Be careful if you have any type of stomach issues, but else... Good Luck! |

Irish here, too. I stumbled on it when I went to my first wake (16) and came home hungry to an empty dorm cupboard, and had to make do with what the dorm staff left out over night in the common kitchen - bread, jam, peanut butter, fruit. I'd heard previously about drinking water, but not how much. I guessed.
A few days later, I got to thinking about it, and it made sense. So I ran my first biology experiment in university on the effects of that specific combination on hangovers.
Got an A on the paper, too.

I'm an Anthropologist, and we do everything by the empirical scientific method. Now I feel doubly good to know you actually put together some data on it. That had to be a great paper....
