How come some songs disappear after a month or two? |
|
And others remain forever?
There was a never-released (amateur did it) disco remix of an Ertha Kitt song I'd stumbled on back in November. It's now nowhere to be found.
The Ghostbusters Instrumental seems impossible to find as well. But I think that one can be bought so I'll do that instead.

Remixes done by amateurs last until the original copyright owners, or their legal representatives, find the remixer and beat the crap out of him (in a legal sense). If the remixer didn't get permission from the original owners prior to release, and if the owners are sufficiently offended, then the song can be made to disappear. In the most extreme case I know of, they made the remixer go through a good faith effort to get every copy back, then burned his master tape and crushed all the copies with a steamroller.

3. Execs at Clear Channel control ALL. |

I heard a good "Video Killed the Radio Star" parody song the other day that went:
"Clear Channel killed the radio star! It sounds the same wherever you are!"
