Ok ... so I posted a profile on Match.com, and I am coming to believe that it's FULL of freepers.
Profile is pretty general - after a tongue-in-cheek name and opening line ... otherwise, it's polite and funny (I think, but then again, my humor's a little obscure).
However, 1. In the list of likes/dislikes" section, I include "Dislike (strongly) GWB and his ilk" 2. And in the "you are/are not" section, I include "YOU ARE NOT someone who ... Voted for GWB."
Which -- happens to be true :) of course :)
AND I'M GETTING HATE MAIL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like, at LOT of HATE mail. Some pretty vitrolic stuff.
Geeeeeeeeze!! Can't they just move on and find their little perfect republican girlfriend and cut the hate mail?

6. Anyone who would respond to your profile with hate mail |
|
is the one who has the issues. They could just pass you by as not the right person for them, but instead they have to take the extra time to fling insults at you?
To the person who wrote "Who do you think you are?" I'd be tempted to say, "I'm a person who does not support this administration and prefers not to spend time with people who do. What's it to you, bud?"

|
Re line: WOW Sounds like you have some very serious issues............ever try prozac?? Good luck I think you may need it Answer-I don't need good luck wishes from you, 'Doctor'. Some of that Frist-style diagnostics? not anywhere near interested
Re line: NOT Not... you are so right! Answer-No actually I'm left, and if you could read, a careful reconoiter of my profile would have led you to believe-I'm not someone you need to respond to. That's ok don't feel bad you are the first one I've had to tell this to.
Re line: WHO Do you think you are? You lost. Get over it. And get ready for Ahnold. You know its comming and the Dem's have nothing even close to stop it. Answer-Thanks for being an obvious asshat. I thank my lucky stars my profile brought out all the rage in your 2 inch penis, sir! :) And I feel for and female who may think your datable.
Re line: Good Luck You'll need it. You've got some issues. Time to get over the election dear. Answer-Wow! Sexist condescention? For li'l ol' ME? What a moron you are to respond to someone who obviously has no interest in what you think. Don't worry though. You aren't the only stupe on this website who thinks they can change my mind with a few 'well-chosen' words. It's obvous you aren't intelligent enough to grasp I don't need to hear from the likes of you!

than insult a dem for a possible date. You've got to remember, these guys are the same ones that use the same haggard old pick up lines...
"Nice shoes, wanna f*ck" and the like...
I love the new "Las Vegas" commercial broadcasting now, with the same "what happens in vegas stays in vegas" with the woman introducing herself to prospective dates as a different female T.V. character each time...
"Hi.. I'm thelma.. this is my friend, Louise. Hi. I'm Betty. Hey there, i'm Xena."

I have gotten a few - "I didn't vote for GWB, wanna F***" (well, only ONE actually used the term f***; but several others suggested it.
....
I figure it's practice. Have been out of the dating scene for 6+ years, and so this is "practice" for getting back into it .. I think.

I met my husband on-line in a chatroom. There were a bunch of folks in there just cutting up and having fun and we hit it off. We were married 7 months later and are coming up on our 8th anniversary.
Just be very careful and listen to any red flags that catch your attention.

exactly. have actually -- in the past (well - right up to the divorce, but .. that's another story :) ) had "success" -- my view is that if you can see the red flags at the bar (or rally or reading or whatever), then you can see them online.
It's just nice being able to meet a lot of nice people while still in your pjs :) (and, ok, some real jerks too - but at least you didn't waste a good outfit and an hour of primping on them)

5. I even got to use the phrase NO MEANS NO SIR.... |
|
on the very first outing.
kid you not.
that was after he revealed that he'd lied and that he'd actually voted for GWB.
I WAS POLITE, and got up to leave. He got up too - and said can I at least kiss you goodbye? :puke: I said no, but he grabbed me anyway and ... I had to use elbows and say - loudly so others on the street heard it "NO MEANS NO, SIR."
....
I'm thinking that ... uhm ... batteries are better :)

Find yourself a moderate Republican who has been disillusioned by Dubya and turn him into a Democrat. ;)

Yeah, but I'm SOOO tired of trying to do that -- family, friends, ok -- that's .. my role. Correction: I'm not TIRED of doing it -- but it can be tiring ... I just don't wanna have to do that with a date!!

There's one or two of us single male Dems out there that haven't jumped the shark yet.

9. Match.com--full of the right wing-makes sense |
|
Many right wing types seem like they have not been laid in years. This, I believe, is why they often present as uptight and grumpy.
If a guy looks like or has the flat line personality of a Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, or Pat Buchanan, I can understand why they need to hide behind a computer to get dates. They are probably flocking to Match.com in droves, looking for their perfect Stepford Wife.

hmmm not sure how to respond to that, as I'm ... well -- there. And I don't consider it hiding behind a computer - I consider it - well (a) practice; and (b) kinda fun USUALLY.
And ok, some have referred to me as "uptight", but I'm passable, and no one has ever thot that I have a flat-line personality. Uhm -- usually the opposite :) :)

18. I didn't mean everyone on Match.com is that way |
|
I just took this as an opportunity to make fun of uptight right wing men. I see them as gluttons, stuck in cubicles, and sexually frustrated--hence at internet dating sites in mass numbers. Only meant the comments in jest--and not at all related to you personally. Sorry if it came across as offensive.
Look out for my right wing brother--he has used Match.com from time to time. He believes that a woman's place lies in motherhood, staying home, cooking, etc. You get my drift I hope!

Stepford wife is about right. All I can think of are the sorority girls from the movie "Animal House," and the failed hand job "Muffy" gives her prep boyfriend in the front of their car on makeout lane. White gloves and all. This would be a freeper ideal woman.
Cringe.
Just keep kicking the trash to the curb. There are some good Dem guys out there even though we are few and far between. There are guys out there that like women with personalities, ideals and a "sense of self" all of their own.
White gloves are optional. :spank:
