Am I too idealistic?
Is it too idealistic to believe that one day I'll find my soul mate? Someone who will love me no matter what, and that I will love no matter what?

Is it too idealistic to think that equality is possible? That hatred and bigotry will someday cease to exist?
Is it too idealistic to believe that we will get our country back? That Bush and all of his people will get what they deserve?

Is it too idealistic to believe in world peace? To believe In unity, or to believe in love?

Is it to idealistic to have hope?

1. Not too idealistic at all...
except for maybe the first one , I try the same thing, but have yet to meet that someone, or I fuck it up, being too shy and all. Hell, look at how long I been here at DU, it took over 2 years before I posted regularly.

3. Yes, it is
I'm sorry to be the one to break this to you, but those ideals have nothing to do with the dominant realities of our planet.

It is wonderful that you must always keep those ideals as you traverse the paths of your life. You will change some things and some people. But you won't change the whole world.

You will, however, be rewarded.

Stay beautiful.

Floog

4. I hope not.
If you are, I am too. If that is the case, I should probably end my life now, because those are exactly the same things I hope for. There must be hope, but maybe we haven't found it yet.

22. As for my part
I'll try my best, but if certain elements follow me to this thread, I will not be able to contain myself. I seem to have no problem with you even though I have a distinct problem dealing with religion. Is that close enough to a truce?

you always fall in love at teh worst times and/or with the wrong people...that's my biggest piece of love advice: don't go seeking it, it will come and kick you in the balls/ovaries eventually.

14. Only the first paragraph is unrealistic, in my opinion.
Not all of us find a soulmate and unconditional love in the same person. Some of us are blessed with lifelong devoted friends, some of us with loves that last a lifetime, and some with a combination of the two.

On the other stuff, you're right on.

Keep believing and you help make it come to pass.

I think soul mates come in different forms, some can just be friends. You know?

I know it won't happen though, it's just nice to dream. :)

27. In my view, "idealism" is a direction, not a destination.
I've discovered that we have it within us to love unconditionally; that it's not about another but about ourselves. I no longer believe there are limits to this other than those we impose upon ourselves.

Everything else follows from this. Everything.

but in general, a young woman can learn a lot from a more experienced man. It can be very educational and beneficial even if they aren't in love. But I'm just speaking in general terms of course. O8)
