Ever get 90% done with something, get excited, and stop working on it?
It's the trouble with me.

Get ALMOST done with a project and think "Hey! I'm almost done! Time to take a break!"

And then lose your momentum.

Sigh.

3. I JUST did it, by logging on to DU.
Got 90% done with a project and felt happy!

Now I know I won't look at it again for a few days. And it'll haunt me all the time.

DAMMIT. Ok, here I'm going to make a valiant attempt to finish it.

10. Self-defeating. Push to finish before you take a break and...
congratulate yourself.

4. yep, i do that sometimes.
i also sometimes get into a really good book, and then towards the end, i put it down ... it's so weird, it's like i am trying to prolong the end.

20. I've done that.
I figure if I don't even care enough to know the ending, I obviously wasn't enjoying the book too much.

Now if I have an impending deadline looming, I can work like a MONSTER. I work best under pressure. Trite, but true.

Then a week later your project is mocking you and then it just moves into the unfinished pile.

14. Yeah, kind of
I'm writing a short story right now, and I got a good chunk of it on paper a couple weeks ago, and was so proud of myself for it (iv'e had this story idea now for several years, and never written it down) that I stopped.
I promised myself that I would get the whole thing written this week.

19. I would be embarrassed to show anyone my
PILE of unfinished short stories and novels.

That's why I write poetry. I can pay attention only long enough to write a fracking poem.

15. That's all I ever do
When my obituary is written it will be extremely detailed in the beginning and just trail off near the end.

21. I am about 3 yrs behind on all my projects..........
mostly because getting help is a problem and because I forget and move on to something else. I've got 3 old cars that require yearly work, I had one for 2 yrs before I even got to drive it. With family medical issues, mine and others thing get put aside. I've been stuck on hold since last Oct and have been chomping at the bit to get going.Have work on the house and yard to complete and my new garage. I hope to get something done this year.....!!!!!! Now if I can get done with physical therapy, i'd be very happy. :woohoo:

22. I totally did that with "adulthood".
I was totally into it until about a year ago, and now it's just gathering dust with my unicycle and my r/c dune buggy.

I have the attention span of...well something with a short attention span.

On edit: when you put N/T after the subject line make sure your attention isn't such short supply that you continue typing. Like little oh me. I do that and just did.

24. My house is filled with 90% projects
If it weren't for the stick-to-it-iveness of my hubby, I'd never get anything done. Of course that only works on projects we do together.

I'm getting better, though. Lifestyle changes in recent years have made getting projects to completion more of the norm.

25. Sometimes I get WAY less than 90% of the project done
and just quit. And usually it is an important project. I think it has more to do with being a perfectionist sometimes than with being a procrastinator. That last minute rush to finish those mandatory projects (e.g. taxes - which I can't ever remember mailing before April 15th) can justify a world of imperfections.

I'm working on it.
