Why did they make the Burger King "King" so creepy? |
|
What is the marketing psychology? The one commercial where he's in bed with the guy when he wakes up is creepy. And the newer one where the guy lifts the windowshade and the King's standing there staring in at him is creepier still. Why does this make me want a Whopper? With fries and a Dr. Pepper? King-sized? My normal thought process does not move readily from "yer really creepy" to "please give me food." And, a special bonus question for HEyHEY: why is it never a woman who opens her eyes/windowshades to see the King standing there, staring at her? ;-)

1. I think it was a DUer who said: |
|
"Why is King Friday the 13th in bed with that guy?"
Yeah, creepy.

2. I had BK a few nights ago, so I guess that marketing worked on me... |

But DAMN, I love the Tendercrisp Sandwich (Not the Bacon Cheddar Ranch, the one Hootie was hawking)

3. See, the commercial sticks in your head. |
|
That's the marketing strategy-to set themselves apart from other fast food joints. TV ad creators want to make something that people will talk about-even if it's creepy.

That was even creepier if my childhood memories serve me right...

he is like some plastic clown and putting him in a bed, or peeking in a window is freakishly intimate. It might pass as an animated cartoon.

they have a long way to go before they catch up to the clever ads for Jack in the Box. Jack is lovable and has a sense of humor - the king makes me think "pervert" especially when he was in bed!
I watch too much TV!

11. Disturbing and creepy - and that doesn't begin to cover it. |
|
But I'm not a big fan of Burger King anyway. Every once in a while I get a strong craving for onion rings, but Sonic's are better.
