Best Song To Come Out In The Past 10 Years? |
|
No poll for this one, just tell me who you think.
I say 'Nuthin' But A G-Thing' from Dr. Dre and Snoop. This past decade was dominated by rap/hip-hop, so I'd have to go with that.
You?

Yeah the original link is now dead. matcom and SoCalDem sent me this gif, I'll see if there is a "cleaner" copy in my inbox.

5. Hate to admit it, but that is a great song... |
|
I detest the boring white guy rock movement in general (Dave Matthews, John Mayer, etc.) but that David Gray song is great and catchy as hell.

7. At a friends house for dinner |
|
And we must have played it about 25 times in a row. It's so catchy it's almost addictive. His song "Shine" is a great tune as well. I can listen to that a bunch of times in a row and not get tired of it.

9. I really like that song too. |
|
It's not my favorite in the past ten years, but it is damn good.
How are things BIF? You have got to hear Scofield's newest album with Medeski, Martin & Wood. It hasn't come out of my player since I got it last week.

14. Well, I have to get you the Charlie Hunet Quintet CD |
|
and this new Scofield CD.
Things are going well here in St. Louis. We are hot and heavy on the Dean campaign now. I'm crazy busy with that and work.

6. Amphetamine by Steve Wynn. Oh, you meant the best song anybody'd heard of? |
|
I wouldn't know anything about that. Uhh, I'm the Ocean by Neil Young. Christmas Morning by Lyle Lovett. Something actually played on the radio? Uhhhhhhhhhh, Zombie by the Cranberries. (Whew!)

Jeeze...
For me: Cherub Rock - Smashing Pumpkins
For Real: Paranoid Android - Radiohead
Paranoid Android and subsequently Radiohead will looked at for a long time after they are gone as one of the greatest rock bands ever.

16. Willie Nelson's song "Home Motel" |
|
off of the Teatro album. EmmyLou sings backup, Brad Mehldau steps in to play piano, and my buddy Brian Blade is on the drums. The whole album is awesome. This is not your parent's Willie Nelson.
OR
"Things Haven't Changed" by Dylan. A rare new song written by Dylan that shows why he is playing better now than he ever has.

17. "Judith" By A Perfect Circle |
|
Tough question, but that is the first thing that popped into my head. Ya know the funny thing about questions like this is that the next time it is asked I'll probably give a totally different answer in a totally different genre.
you're such an inspiration for ways that i will never ever choose to be. oh so many ways for me to show you how your savior has abandoned you. fuck your god, your lord, your christ. he did this, took all you had and left you this way. still you pray, never stray, never taste of the fruit. never thought to question why. it's not like you killed someone. it's not like you drove a hateful spear into his side. praise the one who left you broken down and paralyzed. he did it all for you. oh so many ways for me to show you how your dogma has abandoned you. pray to your christ, to your god. never taste of the fruit, never stray, never break, never choke on a lie, even though he's the one who did this to you thought to question why it's not like you killed someone. it's not like you drove a spiteful spear into his side. talk to jesus christ as if he knows the reasons why he did this all to you. he did it all for you.
