Tie-in with Mike Malloy tonight...my mother recently called |
|
my counselor and told him she was worried I was demon-possessed.
Mike Malloy describes the fundies as "absolutely crazy." I have to agree with him. I grew up fundy. I was crazy. My brother is now an Ayn Rand atheist who listens to Limbaugh and other neo-con hatemongers. Me? I am an atheist with a new leaning toward being progressive.
My mother is currently visiting family in Missouri and I'm so relieved she's gone. I can tell she told my brother to watch me. Personally, I don't want anything to do with him because he's well, obnoxious. :P
Jesus...what to I do? She'll be back in a week.

enjoy your time with your mom gone for a few days. Just continue to be a good person and maybe she'll get over it.

3. What to do? MOVE THE HELL AWAY |
|
Nothing takes these problems off the front burner like a little physical distance. Gives everyone involved a little time to think things over. Sometimes minds change, sometimes they don't, but at the very least you won't have to deal with those minds every day.
It's not a real long-term solution, but it can assist people in becoming who they need to be in order to handle such problems. Sometimes a relationship needs to be pruned way back before it can blossom.

Disability isn't enough to live on.

10. Hmm... you might be surprised |

Depending on where you choose to live, and what rents are like in different locales, you could potentially find a roommate or apartment situation where your disability pretty much covered room & board. You'd be eating on the cheap, but that's not necessarily a bad thing -- think "off-campus college student". Of course I know nothing about your particular disability, but whatever it is, living under stressful circumstances can't be helping.
There are some people in your life that you have to get along with, in order to be happily self-actualized. Near the top of that list are the people with whom you share a home. Also prominent are any psychiatrists, psychologists, or counselors you see. You have to like your shrink, or it's only going to be another therapy obstacle.
I think there's a certain built-in animosity between parents and children that kicks in during adolescence and lasts until the kids leave. It's Nature's gentle way of saying "get your ass away from your parents if you want to breed." Once you get clear of any direct parental influence, thinking becomes much easier. Look around for alternative living scenarios, you might get lucky.
