The Official "Yanks Are Great" Thread
Man, the Yanks looked ready for 2005. They were sharp and didn't show any signs that last year's debacle in the playoffs have mentally affected them. The new guys looked great, Johnson, Womack, and Tino. Also, Matsui has thrown his hat into the AL MVP ring.

That's why the Yanks are great. They don't focus on the past. They don't focus on curses. They shrug off losses, keep their focus, and they move forward toward their goal. Everyone in the world hates them, but they don't care. They exist to win.

1. Word
Jeter looks AWESOME- his upper body looks stronger than last year- he was handling those grounders like no one's business.
Giambi FINALLY looks like he's going to start pulling the ball to RF instead of trying to take it out of the yard- that was effin' sweet.
TINO- YAY! I lurrrve me some Tino.
RJ- hot damn.
Matsui- GOD I love him. WHAT a catch!
This is gonna be a GREAT season.

5. Yup, the cold weather probably took a few MPH off him
Wells looked HORRIBLE. That balk was just laughable.

6. He sure wasn't very good
Though I admit I'll probably still cheer for him at Old Timer's Day in 10 years. I sat with him in the dugout before the game the day he pitched his perfect game--just awesome.

8. Heh
I wrote a story on the Mets for my high school newspaper, and the Mets were kind enough to let me come down to their dugout before the game and chat with one of the benchwarmers. When the Yankees heard about it, they called me up to one-up the Mets. I hung out in the clubhouse for an hour before the game, interviewing Scott Brosius who was extremely nice. They let me sit in the dugout during batting practice, which was awesome, and then comped me seats right behind the plate for the game. All in all, it was incredible.

10. He was seriously just a normal guy
He volunteered to talk to me, talked to me for almost an hour instead of doing whatever it was he normally did before the game. He became one of my favorites after that, obviously!

And then I got to see a perfect game no less!
