5. They have to keep up the facade of D-I college sports being "amateur" |
|
When in reality, it's a multi-billion dollar business, with only the coaches getting a piece of the pie.

wouldn't be able to either get into or pay for a piece of the pie? It beats the hell out of doing ROTC and then being killed overseas.

9. I consider D-I college sports an exploitive sham as far as being "amateur" |
|
The scholarships those players get aren't even worth 1/10th the money that they bring the school.
At least baseball pays its minor leaguers.
The NFL and NBA on the other hand have a nice plantation system with the colleges.

13. The NBA is considering implenting an under-20 rule |
|
The NFL already has one.
The purpose of these rules is to force them into college ball. No more, no less than that.

It is ridiculous. My DH played football at a D3 school and he was not allowed to take a job making more than a certain amount of money during the school year, even though he was not on an athletic scholarship, just by virtue of the fact that he played sports...:wtf:

|
that's the point - the lack of scholarship has nothing to do with except the fact that the person didnt feel compensated for what they gave up. this sounds like a matter of "its not fair...."
if he wanted to work so badly, quit sports; i had to quit so that i could go to the better school - it sucked, but i am glad i went to a nationally known school instead. life has tough decisions to make and they aren't all 'fair'

But he was earning money honestly, and if you knew the college he went to, I do not think there is a football booster among them...one of the worst football programs in the state. LOL

|
costs of a facts & circumstances review of the working situations would be prohibitive.
it's all pretty bunk - the rule is way overbroad, but since self-regulation failed and an appropriate NCAA regulation would be damn expensive, its what we are left with. But, i'll try to come up with an idea :-)

The fraud that is continually perpetrated in the name of the NCAA hurts those student athletes who are being forthright and honest, and it really needs to stop.
