On this bright sunny Virginia morning I went out onto the front porch to enjoy my first cup of coffee and as I looked around the birds were chirping and flying about the squirrels were playing the trees and running across the telephone lines as they always do when I caught something out of the corner of my eye:
Amongst the bushes on the other side of the next apartment building I see two squirrels in an absolute throw down. Their are body slamming each other and twisting to and fro one gaining what appears to be the advantage and then the other one gets on top ......and then they disappear....
Then in front of the steps leading from the sidewalk to our apartment building I see two other squirrels. One squirrel jumps on the back of the other one and seems to be pushing it towards a nearby tree...after a couple seconds of that the other squirrel makes a lightning quick reversal and now IT is pushing the other squirrel towards the tree.....suddenly they break both staring in different directions and without even so much as a look to each other the slowly head off each on their own way....
Either we have a rare subset of the squirrel population or "some people" need to reassess what they think is "natural" and "normal".
Yes it is SPRINGTIME again.
