1. Yep! We were total converts within the first week of owning ours.

Tivo literally changes the way you watch TV.

As in, "Honey, Battlestar Galactica is on. Let's wait 20 minutes so it can buffer enough for us to skip past all the commercials."

Or, "Aaargh! I have to go to the bathroom. Oh right, I can pause live TV!"

Or, "Hey, look what the Tivo thought we might like. Looks interesting."

Or as just happened this past weekend, we were away on a trip to Vegas. Watching TV there, we saw promos for something we thought we'd like to watch. So I went to the hotel's Internet room, logged on to the Tivo website -- and from there, sent a command home to have our Tivo unit record the show. Slick!

3. Woot. Haven't called in to the Tivo yet, but it's been fun and handy. I

just plugged my boys in to last night's recording of Monster Jam. After that, they'll probably want to watch Biker Build-Off.

8. Don't forget to make use of those thumbs-up and -down ratings

That's how you teach the Tivo what you do and don't like, assuming you have it set to the default "look for similar shows" configuration.

Sometimes its suggestions are just plain weird.

Once my SO said sadly, "I thought our Tivo knew us better than that."

On a sad note, we kille dout TV, Tivo and all, last December.

4. I refuse to kill mine. I just don't use them much. Besides, I refuse to

give up those landscaping shows. I love Ground Force. :)

It completely changes the whole TV thing. With tivo and netflix, I don't ever watch "regular tv"
