We love him and he loves us. It was a perfect fit. With his attitude and all. He loves to fish. He loves the weather. We love a sense of humor and a passion for winning.
He's going to give a book signing at the Barnes and Nobles near my house this week. I'm going to try and make it. He is a funny guy. I would love to shake his hand.

And it looks like they're finally going to build them a stadium. They're probably the only team in history to have won two world series' - while playing in a bloody football stadium.

I loved seeing 57,000 people in the stands today. Certianly numbers we wouldn't have seen 5 years ago. that's what i'll miss when we move out of this stadium, seeing 70,000+ for late season and playoff games.

38. Yeah, the stadium is only going to hold 38,000 people |
|
If the state legislature passes it.
But it will be right in the heart of Miami, instead of the county line. If it passes, they are going to change the team name to the Miami Marlins. That's part of the deal.

it may take some getting used to with the new name, but i usually just call them the marlins anyway. I hope that the revenue they get this and next season will be enough to hold on to Cabrera, Pierre, beckett, and burnett as they become superstars.

40. They should have been the Miami Marlins from day one |
|
The rest of Florida couldn't care less about anything going on down in south florida, especially Miami. They treat it as if it were another world, which it actually is compared to the rest of Florida.

it does seem as though Miami is seperate from the rest of florida. i don't think not being in Miami was their problem, it was having H. Wayne Huzgiena (sp?) as their owner.

They always played, and still play, in Miami-Dade County, which is just north of the actual city boundaries, even though people refer to the whole county as Miami.
Huizenga called them the Florida Marlins cause he wanted to sell the team merchandise to the whole state. This was before the Tampa Bay Devil Rays so they were the only team in the state.
Prior to that, everybody was an Atlanta Brave fan, which is one reason why they're our main nemesis.
But they've always been a south Florida team, which means Miami, as well as Broward, Palm Beach counties as well as the Keys. But Miami is the biggest city of the four south Florida counties, so it makes sense that they play here.

heh, i was going to say that his biggest mistake was pissing away all of our starters after the 97 series, but then it led to us getting the roster we have today. Weren't Castillo and Lowell results of those trades?

21. We lost our game yesterday 5-1 |
|
But our Cy Young pitcher started today and actually for the most part, shut them down (bad first inning for Johan, oh well)
Now if someone would kneecap Richie Sexson, I would not be heartbroken - he hits like .364 lifetime against the Twins, two home runs yesterday!
