31 Years ago today she walked down the aisle and said I do, and I have been happily married ever since. She's not only my wife, she's my best friend. She takes good care of both of us. She's 52 and looks 25, I'm 50 and I look - 50!
And we know that we are the only two people responsible for the success of failure of our marriage. We don't need to amend a constitution to prevent others from getting married for ours to continue to succeed. What a wacky liberal thought!
I gotta do it once more - I LOVE MY WIFE (and yes I'm shouting.)

2. So what you're telling me is... |
|
even though gays throughout the world have gotten married and co-habitate, your marriage still has sanctity???
And box turtles AREN'T involved?!?!?!?
Seriously though, congratulations on your incredible wife. I'm about to have one of those myself. :-)

17. Gross Oversimplification (and generalization) |
|
...but gays make very good neighbors, especially out in the suburbs. Not that my straight neighbors aren't very nice -- they are -- but my former gay neighbors were wonderful.
And just to be clear on this: They're still gay, they're just no longer my neighbors! I suppose that should be my gay former neighbors, or perhaps "the gay guys formerly known as my neighbors" or something like that.

I know my neighbors and I know some gay couples. It would be an improvement if the Gay Couples were to move into our neighborhood.

I like your story. But remember to tell her how much you love her--don't just tell us.
I'm very happy for you. At my age, it's unlikely that I'll ever know what it's like to be married that long.

20. Is this a "Promise Keepers" thing or a spontaneous expression of |

affection?
If it's the latter, I applaud you!

I just know I love my Wife immensely and I know I'm a real lucky person. I'm not sure if my expression was spontaneous since I do it all the time. Today just happens to be our Day.

28. Then you have my most heartfelt congratulations. |
|
Being that close to somebody is a really great thing.
The "Promise Keepers" are a fundie group of married men who, for some reason, feel the need to loudly proclaim their fidelity. Their bumperstickers say "I Love My Wife" in big letters....that was why I asked.

proclaiming loudly that he is not corrupt and that he truly loves the new and improved ethics committee!!! I remember a long time ago I guy I worked with was a "promise keeper." He wasn't a pain in the ass about it though. I'm a pain in the ass but not because I love my wife and I'm definitely not a fundie. My dumbass christian conservative bush supporting neighbors can attest to that. My wife is just a wonderful person who puts up with my crap. I'm extremely lucky and fortunate.

So, if you look 50 and she looks 25, does that mean marriage has been harder on you? (just kidding!)
Congrats again, and i hope I can post something similar in 27 1/2 years.
