A best friend is someone special... |
|
Someone you can depend on, someone who puts up with your idiosyncrasies...
Except when they lie to you. Repeatedly. And about you to other people. And make your life harder and blame you for the trouble they cause. Especially if you work together. And they can't get out of bed until 10 and end up dumping all their late work in your lap at 5 o'clock so you can work a 15 hour day while they go play golf with your other friends and tell them all what an asshole you are. And if they get caught at home when they're supposed to be out selling and the boss chews their ass and they think this is all your fault, they tell people they'll never talk to you again. Then a best friend is just another fucking asshole. And I've already met my quota of assholes for this life. Gah.

3. Yeah, I think the word here is asshole |
|
I read something recently that said "a friend will put themselves on the line for you when you ask them to" But "a true friend will put themselves on the line for you without you asking them to".
I don't think you had a friend at all - that's one of the really fucking awful things about being a reasonably decent person, we expect others to treat us decently too, and sometimes they don't.
I'm sorry, nobody deserves that sort of treatment.
Khash.

4. A best friend should be special |
|
They are few and far between.
I can count my *good* friends on one hand. However I have many acquaintances that I'm friendly with.
You didn't deserve that kind of treatment from a "friend" !

I guess this is the grieving process. The strange part to me is that I wasn't even mad about all this anymore - until I heard about the lies being told about me. And rather than blow up about it, I calmly sent an email severing the relationship.
Although I did end the email with the salutation, "...you fucking asshole." Maybe I was a tad angry after all. But mostly I'm just disgusted at the way I've been treated. Ah, well. I'm resilient. I'll move on. But it felt good to vent.
