I'm serious.

Just got in from Brussels--off to do some sightseeing!

1. Enjoy it while you can !
Liberalism and acceptance, TRUE FREEDOM !

Knowing that your own body and business is your own, if only we had that kind of freedom. Indulge. There is no reason not to, and hopefully no one will blame you if you do.

3. It's even colder up here in Groningen!
And remember, the government of the Netherlands is STILL part of the coalition of the 'willing'. It's not all perfect in lotus land.

19. North and a bit to the east.
As far north as you can go without getting wet. Friesland has its own flag, its own language and sometimes closes its borders. Oh yes, and it has fierljeppen.

12. Have fun. Take pictures.
I'm envious. If I were to visit Amsterdam, I probably wouldn't return. Enjoy the day.

15. I'm back inside--pouring right now so I'm talking a break until it
lets up--went to the Rejksmuseum (spelled that wrong, I'm sure) and was going to go the Van Gogh musuem, but the line was about 300 miles long. I'll head over there early tomorrow!

17. Good for you
it's my favorite city in the world.

Yes, make sure you visit the Van Gogh, but also make sure to see the Ann Frank House.

18. I was here 22 years ago, and went to the Ann Frank House then...
...I found it very upsetting--gotta be towards the end of the trip here--don't want to be depressed the whole time!

20. I love Amsterdam, too...
Edited on Sat Apr-09-05 01:36 PM by onager
Used to go there for vacation when I was working in Saudi Arabia. From one extreme to the other! :9

A few years ago I had amassed enough points in a frequent flyer program to go just about anywhere in the world for a week. I went to Amsterdam over Thanksgiving, which was a nice change from the American turkey-and-pilgrim hoopla.

Worked out great. The flight and hotel were free, so the only money I spent was for...uh...recreation.

You know, like the museums...

Stopped raining, so I went out for a bit--an early night, believe it or not, because I was out late in Brussels last night--that city never sleeps either!
