Do you send hostile PM's

I only PM people under friendly circumstances. I always considered the alert feature on PM's to be unnecessary. What kind of pantload uses PM's to flame people?

1. I always considered the alert feature on PMs unnecessary too...

until I had to use it. No idea why people resort to PMs to carry on the same flaming they are doing on threads. It's an invasion and an insult when it's hostile. :shrug:

and who has since been tombstoned.

I have no idea how he knew about the alert, but it scared the crap out of me. Had the alert on a PM feature been available at the time, I would have used it. Because of my fearful reaction, I deleted the damn thing but know now that I should have sent it to the administrators.

The sender was banned shortly after this episode.

i was in a flamewar about language and sexism or something like that and someone PMed me saying something like "thanks for helping me educate those uber-PC pansies". I'm sure this person must have meant to PM someone ELSE. So I PM'ed back: hey jackass, I AM one of those "uber-PC pansies! and DON'T call me a bitch!"

And I've gotten PMs from people I am debating (who later got a pizza) and they were never nasty PMs. So I've never hit alert on a PM, but who knows? May need to one day....

I've had some that grew out of misunderstandings, but they were not hostile, and I enjoyed replying to them. I've sent some that were sarcastic, but they were taken as such and no harm was caused.

I've only received two or three, and they were friendly, and I answered them. I've never even been tempted to chastise anyone in private - seems senseless to me.
