Upper class twit of 2008
Who are the frontrunners for the 2008 rethug nomination?

1. I'd be willing to bet
it will be a guy who was rather unknown until about a year away. Perhaps another southern Republican governor?

2. Bill Frist -- THE CAT BUTCHER leads a pack of --
-- despicable mediocrities. Maybe Sen. Hagel of Nebraska, maybe Mitt Romney, maybe Newt Gingrich...

but I think THE CAT BUTCHER is in the lead position at the moment.

3. Isn't Bill Frist
supposed to be stupider than Dan Quayle sniffing glue?

4. I can't say if THE CAT BUTCHER is smart or not --
-- but he is certainly a mealy-mouthed Doc Welby kind of mediocrity.

We don't need him.

I like the image of Dan Quayle sniffing glue.

And I LOVE your Coleman bumper sticker!

Go, Dems.

6. Hagel we could hang with Social Security...
He's been out in front on the privatization issue. I don't think they nominate him because he was an outspoken opponent of the war in Iraq.

9. You're right -- he faces those hurdles. How do his --
-- Nebraskan constituents handle those two issues with him, I wonder?

It seems like a pretty red state for him to take the anti-war position...

But he's the sort of Republican who could make things interesting in New Hampshire.

13. He got 80% in 2002...
The Democrats barely put up a fight.

It should be noted that he did vote for the IWR. But he was the most outspoken opponent of the war anywhere in the Republican Party.

10. Hagel will win because he use to be CEO of one of those voter machine....
...companies.

Believe me, it could happen

8. Santorum?
Edited on Tue Apr-12-05 12:31 AM by Emops
You know, I was in Pennsylvania last week (Pittsburgh) and I noticed a conspicuous absence of box turtles. Even in the Carnegie Natural History Museum, the turtle exhibit- empty.

11. But Santorum isn't from Pennsylvania
Maybe he lured all the box turtles to his home state of Virginia

12. Just my guesses
John McCain is the frontrunner, unless Jeb Bush jumps into race.

Others:
Chuck Hagel - good chance, as it will give Rs the chance to bring in a former vet.

Bill Frist - has the support of the Fundies and the "Dr" in front of his name adds credibility to the masses.

Bill Owens - Colorado Gov has been mentioned in some circles.

Mitt Romney - if this guy could win in Mass, he could win anywhere.

Rudy Giuliani - would win a lot of moderates, but may not excite the base. Will they still support him as the lesser of 2 evils?
