Poll question: Is Hunter Thompson the 3 Stooges for the latter half of the 20th century?

Of course, I could have said "Do men like HST better than women?" but my way is more fun. Girlfriend and I disagree on the good doctor; I love and honor him while she hates him. Is this just us, or everybody? Sorry about the lack of Other option; I thought I covered everything, but if not, you can always reply below.

Full disclosure: I don't particularly like the Three Stooges. Edit: Also I live under a rock.

1. Male, like Thompson, not so much the 3 Stooges.
Thompson's voice is distinct and clear and strong.

Ask your girlfriend to reconsider his impact on the New Journalism.

4. I'm thinking it's a semi generation gap; she's considerably younger
and probably hasn't given him much of a shake.

5. Maybe this would work -- rent the film of --
-- FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS with Johny Depp starring as Hunter Thompson.

Might be worth a try...?

2. Female, love HST and still mourn his loss
I have his picture with a black border as my computer wallpaper. I also really appreciate the Three Stooges. I don't generally care for broad slapstick comedy unless there is a keen intelligence behind it - I've always seen that with the Stooges. There was a lot of tongue in cheek, plays on words, double entendres - stuff you had to GET, beyond the silly slapstick.

But Thompson is in a league by himself, a true genius and a gifted writer.

How is that, living under a rock? Is it tough to keep clean?
