Is Comcast swallowing more than it can handle? |
|
Comcast has been gobbling other cable companies and now it can no longer provide adequate Internet service.
Last week it had a "nation-wide" server shut down for the whole evening and night
These past two days, again, its service was down for two evenings and nights straight - the time, of course, when most want to surf.
Sure, they apologize. And if one does stay on the line, one can get a "ticket number" to later call the billing department and at least to get a refund for these days.
But, hey, you have a monopoly in this area. I'd rather go with Cox or even with Time Warner but I have no choice. So can't you make sure that your services are adequate before you get your monopoly?

3. I really have my issues with Comcast |
|
Not only with their Internet, which for the most part is worth it for me, but mostly for the high cost of the TV cable service. For what little you get in my area (Prince William County, VA) I should be paying a lot less. The channels I really want to see (Starz and Sundance) aren't even offered. I can't get satellite because of the trees around my condo.

5. Your city, or county is allowing Comcast to operate in your area |
|
so you may want to complain to them
Years back, in California, when cable access to the Internet was new, I used to complain to my city council and it did look at it.
I may do the same here..

I pay about $100 for cable internet and tv and for the last few weeks (even as i type actually :argh: :grr: :banghead: ) it is severely slow if it is working at all... i had better results when i had dial up! and i paid much less. I am seriously considering getting the satelite tv/dsl package with verizon.
on edit: it took nearly two minutes to submit the original message!

8. The irony of the whole thing |
|
The very same week that Comcast sends me a bill in an envelope that claims WE INCREASED YOUR SPEED TO 4 MEGS FOR THE SAME "LOW" PRICE, and then at night I might as well be surfing on my old 14.4 modem.

I'm in Northern Virginia - although I get my hair cut in Lake Ridge :) - and it never occurred to me to check with Comcast about a rebate.
I just called, and they're crediting my account for three days - that simple.
I'd never have thought to check that, so thanks for the information.

Everyone keep in mind the people that you get on the phone have no control over ANYTHING. If they dont give you info, its because they don't have it. If you're angry, be angry, but don't take it out on them, and explaining "I'm not angry at you, I'm just angry at comcast" goes a long way.

13. No, not angry. But it helps when someone explains that |
|
a. it is nation wide outage b. that it would take all night (so I can forget about it and go to sleep) c. that they give me a ticket number to call billing to get a refund..

But sometimes... 'they' are told not to tell anyone anything, and it's never known how long it'll take, and you should be able to get a creidt right away, that whole $1.50
EDIT Usually less than 1.50
