My doggy has Lyme disease...
Poor Wolfgang! The last couple of days he was limping. I thought he'd pulled a muscle, as he has several times when he was in rowdy mode. But yesterday he hardly got up at all, and this morning he wouldn't even get up to go outside. So I took him to the vet, and they did some blood work, and found that he had Lyme. :-(

The vet said he also has arthritis in his hind legs, so we'll have to give him glucosamine every day. Welcome to old fogeydom, Wolfy!

1. I'm so sorry
I hope he is better soon. Lots of love and petting from me. The glucosamine should help a little with the arthritis. It has helped my old cat Lily to the point where she thinks she's going to be hunting again.

4. I have a friend who had Lyme disease years ago
and he suffers from horrible pain in his joints still. I hope that's not Wolfy's fate.

5. sorry about the lyme's -- depending on the individual dog --
he might really pull out of that though.

when sporty had arthritis -- i gave him glucosamine -- but i also gave him rimadil -- that's a good doggy aspirin that works wonders on dogs with arthritis when it's painful.
amazing stuff.

8. Rymadil does work well
But it's very hard on the liver and kidneys which should be checked regularly when the dog is on it.

My Dixie had spondylitis (arthritis in her spine) - glucosamine kept her pretty comfortable for over a year then I had to go to the Rymadil. It should be used with caution though.

9. The vet gave him Dermaxx
as an anti-inflammatory. He said to try it for a week and see how he does. He's already feeling much better. He's moving around a lot more, and got excited when my son came home.

He's already walking much better. He'll be on the antibiotics for 4 weeks. He's a spirited pup...I'm sure he'll pull through. :)

12. awww...
poor Wolfy. I hope it doesn't slow him down too much.

I've been feeding my Tucker a good dry food with glucosamine and chondroitin since I got him - my vet said it's a good for breeds prone to joint problems.

15. I'm glad you haven't had major problems...
What sort of discomfort do you still experience, and what do you do to take care of it?
