Plumbing ( Bath) help needed......Brand?. |
|
I'm going to replace my sink, toilet and bathtub.
What is a decent brand of bathroom "stuff" I was looking at Kohler but the tubs were about 800 dollars (Ouch!)
Could you recommend a few decent brands that are not so expensive but are not the cheapest either.
I've got about a grand to spend and I can do the work....

2. Delta or Price Pfister |

Both are good product lines. Don't be afraid to spend a little money. Cheap plumbing will cost you many times over.

3. the brand of the tub isn't as important as the quality of the fixtures and |
|
workmanship.
You may even find a barely used new tub for sale from someone else's remodel, which could put you into better quality fixtures.
Remember, LESS IS MORE.

4. Tubs. Forget cast iron. Newer tubs in acrylics have both apron |
|
and tile in flange. They are less expensive, and are can be repaired. They also have the advantage of being 32" and upto 18"-20" in depth.
They are also available in surround, (2 piece for renovations.) They are more expensive than fiberglass, but last longer.
Sinks don't "work." So look for an inexpensive brand, self-rimming or undermount.
Waterclosets - I prefer Toto. They flush. Toto has opened three factories in the US, so you will be buying and supporting American workers.
Faucets. Delta is very reliable and fairly inexpensive. Price-Pfister less so. I sometime use Danze. Most valves are now from China. (Grohe is the best, and there is a builder's line that is affordable.)
Chrome and white is less, of course.
Make sure your bath waste is glue type. No leaks.
Any questions?

6. Kohler has blue, American Standard has blue (waterclosets are |
|
terrible.) Alas, Toto does not, Duravit does not. Porcher does not.
I think you will be stuck with Kohler.
Most acrylic companies match major manufacturers.
What look are you trying to achieve? Trad, arts & craft, contemp, modern?

8. if you are looking at AmStd's champion watercloset, |
|
be forewarned, it is the laughingstock of the industry.
I agree with Tsuki (and not just because i work for her) - check out grohe & toto.
