11. I read in your posts here that you don't have anyone with you.
Do you have a neighbor that might come sit with you? If you're like me, I prefer to "hurt" alone. Had bone surgery a few years ago.

Maybe you need a different pain drug...some work better than others for me.

So sorry you're hurting.:(

3. Can you take some more?
Maybe call the doctor (or nurse or whoever's number they told you to call) and ask if you could increase the meds?

Hope you have someone around to take care of you for a few days.

Seriously. If you're awake, then wake their asses up and ask if you can increase the meds. Don't suffer until tomorrow.

13. That is what men always think.
You've just had surgery. They should be keeping you fairly floating.

It may be that you moved too much - especially if you don't have anyone around to help you. Hope you feel better tomorrow.

9. My brother suffered for a full day with drugs
Talk about fevers, sweats, 'agonia'--the whole magilla. Cold cloths, a bit of an alcohol rub to cool him down (not on the affected area mind you) and drugs, drugs, drugs and REST REST REST were the only cure.

It was outright misery for a day, moderate misery for three more.

14. Here, I'll make you feel better.
Imagine 26 hours of labor, including BACK labor (a skull sitting on and grinding on your spine) and then pushing out a nine pound baby with no pain relief. And your fingers getting broken in the process (don't ask how). And then being catheterized immediately after. Vomiting and dry heaving through the whole 26 hours.

Then nurse the baby until your nipples fall off and battle major depression for a year.

There! I bet you feel better now right?

No but seriously, I hope you do feel better soon! That's a bitch, my husband had that surgery, too.

how did you break your fingers? Grip the bar too tight? Dh broke them by holding your hand too tightly?

Eeks.

23. No they failed to say "take your hands off the bed rail while
we push your bed into the delivery room."

Her head was already delivered, the nurse was freaking out, and she just rammed the bed through the doorway with my hands still on the rails and she was SO freaked out by it, that she attempted to SLAM against the bed to SHOVE IT ON THROUGH WITH MY FINGERS STILL THERE!

The nurse at the foot of the bed had her wits about her (I couldn't even breathe or speak at this point from the pain and remember, I have a HEAD BETWEEN MY LEGS). She yelled at the nurse on the other end "Back up! Back it up!" So they backed up, out popped my fingers, I held them in this time, and I croaked at the nurse "that's ONE way of getting me to forget the pain!"

I got to take a trip to x-ray after she was born. They swelled up and turned purple immediately and I could barely hold her when she was born.

28. hey--didn't you have
Edited on Mon Apr-18-05 10:51 PM by R. A. Fuqua
a lady friend that you were making some progress with? (I remember reading something about a Farah look a-like?)

Why don't you give her a call?

I love playing "Nurse and Patient". Sure--you are in a little pain right now--but as you perk up the games can get more intense.....

My girl and I really bonded when she took care of me after surgery (removal of my wisdom teeth was just a couple of weeks after we met. She was so tender and caring that I was really totally and completely in love with her after my recovery was complete (I was attracted before the surgery--but I loved her so much for taking care of me). She would even sing to me!

I love getting tender loving care--and when you are sick you really deserve it!

34. Hi Steve!
Sorry I'm posting so very late! Had to work today, and am just getting to my DU friends right now...I very selfishly am hoping that you're still up to get this...

I'm so sorry that you're having so much pain. You WILL be better tomorrow. The body does heal itself...Look at it this way: pain means you're ALIVE! NOOO, you would NOT be better off dead!

Please take care of yourself, my friend!

:hi:

that can impede your healing. ask for something else. I suggest Morphine or Fentanyl. Oxycodone is useless shite. IMHO.
