Poll question: How many is too many? |
|
Edited on Thu Apr-21-05 05:13 PM by skygazer
Sexual partners, I mean. (whoops) For a woman. Prior to "settling down". I'm curious now. Apparently, there's some kind of limit that I wasn't aware of.

1. Why is it any different for a woman from what it would be for a man? |
|
And I don't think there is such a thing as "too many".

7. Are you talking prunes? (Are 3 enough? Are 6 too many?) |
|
Or partners?
Why do people need to know? I guess it has something to do with the habit nowadays of getting busy before you know your partner's mother's maiden name....courtship is a lost art.

11. Who asks that question? |
|
I have never asked a person I had a relationship with how many people they had sex with before meeting me. How rude.

14. Evidently a lot of people do |
|
And evidently there's a "correct" answer though I've yet to learn what that answer is. I'm frankly stunned and amazed that there are so many people who still believe that if a woman has had multiple sexual partners, she must be disturbed or depressed or prone to cheat once she is in a relationship. Damaged good, ya know?
Why is it so hard to accept that some women, like some men, enjoy sex and have several casual flings before they are ready to settle down with someone?

20. To each their own, I suppose |
|
I never really developed much of a hang up about sex.
I'ld probably be more concerned if the person I was interested in flitted into and out of relationships at the drop of a hat.

wouldn't stick around to keep getting what I'm givin' I mean I need 'em as naive as to the what the world has to offer as possible. I need to be able to give them a McDonald's hamburger and tell her "Girl, you just got yourself a PORTERHOUSE steak" and for her to BELIEVE it.

Single ten years, average of three guys a year - that's 30 guys!!!! Even with only one guy a year, that's still ten guys.
Yet some people refer to this as "sleeping with anything that moves." :wtf:

24. I, quite frankly, don't care anymore |
|
At one time I would have, but not anymore.
If it means she's committed and then left them because the spark went out or something, then maybe I'd think that I had no chance of keeping her "for myself" i.e. in a committed relationship, but as far as number? I don't care.
And, I gotta ask, why the f*ck is this kinda question always limited to women? That's f*cking rediculous!!! No offense skygazer at all, it's not your question, but the trend of these questions being asked, and I know your question is based on another poll.

men should hold it against women for having many sexual partners, as long as women don't hold it against men for having few.
(Not speaking from personal experience or anything. OK, maybe I am. :-))

27. It's up to each person |
|
I know that if I am going to change my life and make a decision to be with someone, possibly forever, I would like to know what type of person I am getting close to. I could give a shit what someone did before they met me, but I think that by going in to a relationship blindly is foolish and not very smart. it also depends on what kind of person you yourself are. If I choose to be more liberal, I think it would be foolish to try to start a relationship with someone who is conservative and a die-hard Republican. If I want to know my possible partner's education, I am entitled to ask. If I want to know if the person was married before and would I be dealing with an ex-husband and possibly children, I feel it is my right to ask. I'm not saying that those things are wrong and I wouldn't consider starting a relationship, I personally think it is wrong to put yourself in a situation that might get you to a point when it is too late to dissolve the relationship easily. As for how many partners and their sexual past, I think it is important and smart to know these things. That's just me though, and I have no problem if people think that not knowing a person that they might possibly marry. I have a lot of friends who are paying a lot of money to ex spouses because they didn't care what the person was like.

You're own morals and values should dictate what you do (within the law) not the morals or values of random strangers.
