So what DON'T you believe in? |
|
This morning, I was thinking of the John Lennon song "God", in which Lennon lists off things he doesn't believe in, such as magic, I-Ching, Bible, Tarot, Yoga, and the Beatles (it's a pretty long list). Just then, the radio started playing "Dear God", by XTC, which has a similar lyric at the end, "I don't believe in heaven or hell, no saints no sinners no devil as well,". And that got me to thinking about all the things I DON'T believe in. Not just religious or supernatural things, but everyday things as well. So what DON'T you believe?
I don't believe anyone can truly pull themselves up by their own bootstraps in this country anymore and go from dire poverty to Donald Trump territory. I don't know if I believe it was every really possible.

Or at least here in Florida.
Also, feng shui.
(Are the two related?)

"I just believe in me." (And no, not Yoko) I can probably go on forever about what I don't believe in, but at the same time I could go on forever about what I do believe in. I guess what I am trying to say is that outside of my mind and myself, everything is just a concept and other people's perception of reality is different than mine. So, if someone says "God", they have their own thoughts about who their God is and in no way could I believe in the same thing they believe in because it's all relative to each other's conceptions.

4. I don't believe that hardwork will get you anywhere in the |
|
corporate world.
Its all Luck, Looks, Personality and a touch of hardwork at the end is optional.
Just hardwork alone though isn't enough. If it was the mangers here wouldn't all be size 6 and less with a great tan fake blond hair and the men wouldn't be 6 foot plus golfers.

with your remark about people pulling themselves up by their bootstraps. That's propaganda. Might have been possible, remotely, 150 years or so ago. If a highly motivated person struggled to make it to a gold rush, say, in California or Alaska, and with incredible luck, hit it rich.
