Springtime in Houston - saw the first firefly of the year tonight... |
|
Ahhhhhh. Good times.
(They'll all die when the county sprays for mosquitos.)

We get tons of fireflies, but few mosquitos due to west nile virus spraying. Spraying doesn't seem to hurt the firefly crop any. Not time for any of the other critters you mentioned yet. Maybe July.
I'm still pissed about "brood x". I love the cicada song, and I was looking forward to a wild year last year with all the "brood x" hype. Know what we got? NOTHING. It was actually the WORST year for cicadas I ever remember. Maybe they'll come back this year.
So far the best thing I've seen is that my lilac bush has lots and lots of flowers started. They will smell gorgeous!

4. Our new Meyer Lemon tree is producing fruit already... |
|
The blooms are fantastic, and even the leaves smell lemon/sweet when you break one open.
Great tree! :bounce:
